General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) may have inadvertently sealed Dex Heller’s (Evan Hofer) fate. GH fans know Michael instructed Dex to do some digging and try to figure out who’s behind the threat inside Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) organization.
Since Dex is taking a gamble with this secret investigation, Michael wired some money into his account to pay for that additional risk.
Unfortunately, Michael is bound to create even more trouble with that money transfer.
Brick (Stephen A. Smith) doesn’t trust Dex and plans to take a closer look at him, so the stage is set for him to find all that extra money in Dex’s bank account.
It may look like Dex is working for the enemy – and to be fair, Dex was indeed working for Sonny’s foe in the beginning.
Vengeful Michael was determined to put Sonny in prison or at least force him out of the country by scoring incriminating evidence against him.
Dex was hired to help acquire that evidence, so he had to fool Sonny and earn his trust. Now Dex is in a tight spot since Michael just wired money that could torpedo his role in Sonny’s organization.
Once Brick discovers that giant payment, it could initially seem like Dex received it for his part in the Puerto Rico plot.
Brick feels like maybe Dex was given an opportunity to play the hero and earn even more of Sonny’s trust. The money transfer could back up that theory in Brick’s eyes.
Other mob bosses were targeted in this storyline, but that doesn’t change the fact that the person who went after Sonny knew his system completely.
At the very least, Dex may be accused of leaking information.
Sonny made it clear that if he discovered Dex was disloyal, he’d make it so Dex would beg to be put out of his misery.
After Brick presents new “proof” that Dex is the traitor, Sonny is bound to take action and could force Dex back on the meat hook. That was a strategy Sonny used during “The Hook” storyline when Dex looked like a suspect.
After the trust they’ve built shatters, Sonny could easily threaten Dex with torture tactics again to bring the story full circle.
Whatever the case, Sonny has vowed that Dex will pay if he discovers a betrayal. Dex is in a lose-lose situation since he may have to come clean about working for Michael to clear his name in the new investigation.
It’s good that Dex isn’t trying to wipe Sonny off the map, but he still plotted with Michael and secretly reports back to him with news even now.
The truth isn’t much better since Dex has been keeping a huge secret from the start – one that Michael, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) all know about.
Regardless, Sonny may react swiftly once he discovers traitor proof against Dex, even if Sonny’s wrong about the exact kind of traitor he is!
Of course, Brick might eventually determine that the money came from Michael, so that could steer Sonny’s line of questioning once Dex is on the hot seat.
