General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) finally made it back on-screen in the March 4 episode, so many viewers were thrilled to see him in action again.
Undercover Jason just saved Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) life by making sure the sniper with him missed the shot – and we can assume Jason’s been making sure the other attempts on Sonny’s life were unsuccessful as well.
In an interview with SOD, Steve Burton opened up about his return to the show and how wonderful it was to get such a warm welcome back from the cast, crew and fans.
Of course, Burton also talked about Jason’s classic black T-shirts and how much money he saves the wardrobe department!
However, the most interesting part of the interview was perhaps the nuggets Burton offered about Jason’s storyline.
Burton admitted he had never been the type of person to dictate what’s written or shut anything down.
It’s clear that Steve Burton was just happy to be back and was willing to play whatever the show wanted to give him.
That said, Burton seems quite pleased with the story, which actually went through a change anyway.
You’ve probably heard by now that Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor were given the boot as the show’s previous co-head writing duo.
O’Connor and Etten were replaced by Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte, so Burton acknowledged that the storyline went in a new direction as a result.
“So apparently there was a whole different story planned and then the head writer switch happened and then they kind of rebooted [the story arc],” Burton confirmed.
Naturally, GH viewers are also curious about Jason’s romantic future, so Burton was asked about his character’s different pairings and whether all the fan chatter about Jason’s love life was fun.
“It is! Some of those fan wars got pretty nasty, you know, and obviously none of us wanted that, but it was what it was,” Burton said.
Now that more time has gone by, Burton suggested that the show could “tease it and see what happens,” but he insisted he didn’t have any info on Jason’s romantic plan and would just play whatever was written for him.
That means the fan speculation can continue!
Whether you’re rooting for Jason to be with Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) or even someone else, there’s no firm news who he’ll end up with just yet.
