General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) still loves Nina Corinthos (Cynthia Watros) despite her betrayal, so moving on won’t be an easy task. The situation is obviously complicated since Sonny shut down Diane Miller’s (Carolyn Hennesy) talk of starting divorce proceedings.
Sonny acted like it was because of Bobbie Spencer’s (Jacklyn Zeman) demise and suggested Nina wasn’t the priority right now.
However, Sonny would’ve just agreed with Diane’s divorce plan if that’s what he truly wanted.
A simple “yes” to the question of whether to start divorce proceedings would’ve gotten the ball rolling.
All Sonny had to do was say one word and his official split from Nina would’ve taken its first step.
Since Sonny’s dragging his feet and has still been wearing his wedding band, there’s hope for him to work things out with Nina eventually.
Of course, that doesn’t mean Sonny will be a saint in the meantime! Nina screwed up by lying to Sonny and now hopes for forgiveness, but what if she ends up having to forgive him next?
If GH writers want to balance the scales a bit, they could have Sonny and Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) reconnection take a sizzling turn.
Sonny showed up to support Carly after he learned Bobbie had passed on, which led to their warm embrace and some hand caressing.
Carly and Sonny’s lingering bond was on full display, so could this lead to a steamier reunion at some point?
There’d be no better revenge than for Carly to reclaim Sonny in bed and spread the word to Nina.
Nina might even walk in on Sonny and Carly under the covers – much like Carly did that time she found Nina hitting the sheets with Sonny.
Since Nina’s normally the one groveling and trying to make up for past mistakes, it’d be a twist to see Sonny remorseful for something this time around.
Could Sonny hook up with Carly and leave Nina realizing he slept with his ex-wife, who happens to be her worst rival?
Sonny is still married to Nina and promised to cherish her forever in his vows. Breaking those vows would still be cheating, but Sonny could argue that he was on a break with Nina.
Even if Sonny is ultimately apologetic for any betrayals that might go down during this time apart, Nina may have to decide what she’s willing to forgive, too!
There’s no guarantee Sonny and Carly will sizzle again anytime soon, but it’s an option worth considering – especially since Carly and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) have some romantic problems on the horizon.
