General Hospital Tuesday, August 20 Recap: Lulu’s Liver Problem, Cyrus’ Confession and Nina’s Distress Call

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 20, reveals that Laura Collins (Genie Francis) demanded to know why Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) was in Lulu Spencer’s (last played by Emme Rylan) room at her long-term care facility. Cyrus insisted he visited Lulu frequently to read the Bible, so Laura mentioned Lulu’s troubling test results.

Later, Laura and Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) spoke to Lulu’s doctor, who informed them that Lulu’s liver was compromised and that it could fail if this kept up.

Laura was alarmed as she asked if Lulu was going to die.

At home, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) gave Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) updates on the trouble with Lulu as well as Kristina Corinthos-Davis’ (Kate Mansi) arrest.

Sam took off to support Kristina while Dante broke the news to Rocco Falconeri (Finn Francis Carr) that Laura had been summoned to Lulu’s facility over some test results.

At the gallery, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) showed up to talk Crimson business, but Ava Jerome (Maura West) wound up venting about the whole situation with Kristina and said Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) had gone MIA on her.

Ava also explained how she ended up throwing in with John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J. Harrington), which she now worried was a huge mistake since he was so obsessed with Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) takedown.

Once Ava recapped the real story of what happened in her hotel room – including the changes to the crime scene – she begged Nina to believe she didn’t intentionally shove Kristina.

Nina seemed sympathetic to Ava’s dilemma since she knew what it was like when your credibility was ruined.

Nina also knew Ava was a good mom and offered to send Scott her way if she found him.

Ava stopped Nina from leaving to say she was sorry, so Nina said she was too and exited.

Soon after, Nina called someone since she was desperate and wanted to collect on a favor they owed her.

At GH, Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) and TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) traded stories about their Ava confrontations.

Although Molly initially stepped up to defend Kristina against Cates’ accusations, she admitted it was possible Ava was defending herself.

Molly also suggested Kristina’s actions could be to blame for their baby’s demise.

After Molly apologized for causing this Kristina surrogacy mess and not being there for TJ when he was grieving, he accepted her apology and expressed his love.

Since Kristina’s emergency bail hearing was happening now, TJ urged Molly to go get info and said they’d figure everything else out tomorrow.

At the PCPD, Sonny told Kristina that all of this was about John’s grudge against him and that he was going to take care of everything.

At the courthouse, Sonny made sure Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) was ready since she only recently became a lawyer again, but she was fired up to help Kristina.

Alexis also wanted to be certain Sonny would keep his cool, but he just wanted his courtroom presence to drive Cates crazy.

Although John wanted Kristina to stay put until the trial, the federal prosecutor didn’t have any evidence to offer yet since John had given him such a flimsy case.

Between that and the news about Kristina recovering from a recent emergency C-section, Judge Sullivan (Gita Reddy) had no interest in keeping her locked up.

Kristina was released on her own recognizance after Judge Sullivan called this a colossal waste of time.

In fact, Judge Sullivan was annoyed over the lack of proof presented and gave John 48 hours to come up with it or he’d risk landing in jail himself.

John could also lose his badge over his, so he knew there was a lot riding on what came next.

Agent Cates was furious as he met back up with Ava, who was shocked over all the Kristina arrest drama that had erupted.

Ava hoped to find Scott, but John acted like he was the only person she could rely on.

John wanted to talk about Ava’s statement, but she tried to put him off until the morning.

Agent Cates insisted they had to get this done and made it clear that in this new version of events, she needed to say everything he told her to say.

While Sam filled Molly in on what went down in court, Kristina ended up at Alexis’ place.

Both Sonny and Alexis were there to support Kristina, who was grateful to her parents for all their help.
