General Hospital’s Kate Mansi Talks Who’s to Blame for Kristina’s Fall – Is It Ava’s Fault or Not?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that fans are still reeling over that epic moment when Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) smashed out of Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) suite window, which resulted in Kristina belly-flopping into the Metro Court pool.

In an interview with SOD, Kate Mansi opened up about Kristina’s confrontation with Ava and the role West played in shaping how it went down.

Since West is so protective of her character, she wanted to bring more nuance to the situation than just a catfight to get the result of Kristina’s tumble.

“She played it as, ‘I’m arguing this point, you’re arguing this point, and I’m certainly not going to push you,’ but [their confrontation] escalates in a natural way,” Mansi said.

On social media, some fans have been accusing Ava of shoving Kristina, but that’s not what happened if you look closely at the end of the August 1 episode.

Ava did reach out to grab Kristina, but it was Kristina who pulled away and got her foot caught on John “Jagger” Cates’ (Adam J. Harrington) bag on the floor.

Of course, no one could’ve predicted how flimsy that window would be when Kristina fell toward it.

It’s wild that simply tripping in a hotel room could result in an accident of this magnitude, but that’s soaps for you!

As for West’s decision on how to play Ava in that moment, Mansi had nothing but praise for her and loved the messiness of it all.

“I think that was really smart and it leaves it in this really sort of knotty gray area because it’s like, ‘Wait, did she push her, or did she fall? Whose fault is it?’ The blame isn’t black and white,” Mansi insisted.

Mansi acknowledged that Kristina came barging in and invaded Ava’s space, so that was a factor too in her opinion.

It’s not like Ava lured Kristina into a trap or tried to set up this outcome, but grabbing Kristina did inadvertently pave the way for this disaster.

Although stunt doubles were used for the window smashing and pool splash, there’s one part of Kristina’s fall that only Mansi herself could do.

Kristina’s scream was indeed Mansi’s and took some time to get right since her first take wasn’t long enough for the whole five-floor tumble!

It all came together beautifully in the end, so kudos to Kate Mansi, her stunt doubles and the show itself for delivering such a soapy GH cliffhanger!

General Hospital spoilers say the consequences of Ava and Kristina’s faceoff will be rough, so we’ll offer more story predictions and updates on Sonny’s revenge over the news of Ava’s involvement.
