General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) world has been thrown into chaos thanks to Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) return. Although Carly is thrilled to have Jason home where he belongs, there’ll be consequences for her unwavering support.
Carly has already been rushing to Jason’s defense since she knows in her heart that he’d never betray Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) or take down Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) like that.
It’s clear that Jason is Carly’s priority, so she’ll have to deal with Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) decision to dump her for putting Jason first and blindly believing his side of the story.
In a new interview with SOD, Laura Wright opened up about Carly’s frame of mind and how she’ll react in the aftermath of the breakup.
“As much as I’m sure that she’s affected by Drew leaving, she gets it. One hundred percent of her attention is on Jason,” Wright said.
However, Wright clarified that “it’s not romantic at all” and compared Jason to family instead.
That could be an interesting clue since so many GH fans are eager for predictions on Jason’s love life and what it’s going to look like moving forward.
Of course, just because Carly and Jason are in the friend zone right now doesn’t mean they’ll stay there!
It’s possible Wright is just highlighting the fact that Carly’s relationship with Drew isn’t ending because of any romantic feelings for Jason.
That doesn’t prevent the story from veering in a romantic direction later on – although it’s certainly possible that Jason could end up back together with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) instead.
Jason has more important things on his mind than romance at the moment, but there’ll be time for all that once he clears his name!
As for the end of Carly and Drew’s relationship, Wright confessed that “the whiplash [of their split] is not so hard because it’s all about Jason.”
Whether things take a romantic turn down the road or not, it sounds like Drew’s making the right call to move on.
