In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, Mika was still recovering. It’s been weeks since her accident. She was regaining her strength. Only she was also dealing with the death of her sister. Her sister died in the same car accident that nearly killed her. Mika fell asleep behind the wheel of her van.

She probably fears deep down that her sister was dead because of her and so her friends tried to be there for her. They tried to talk to her. They tried to comfort her. Mika pushed them all away. She was acting like nothing happened. She said she was back on top. She refused to be sad or cry. She went back to work the first chance she could. And she was back to being sarcastic.

Bailey like everyone else tried to express their condolences when Mika came back. Mika brushed them all off. She just didn’t want to hear it.

She wanted to go back to being a doctor and not be remembered for being a patient. Plus, the hospital needed all hands on deck. There was a record breaking heatwave in the city. They were undergoing the hottest spring in years. The hospital was going to be flooded with people getting sick from the weather. Jo hated it because pregnant woman can go into early labor during a heatwave.

There was also an ice shortage at the hospital. Everyone grabbed ice to cool down patients. It went double for the pregnant woman and so Jo ran out of ice. She was already testy because the AC went out at her apartment. She and Link were looking at getting a hotel room or renting a house with the AC.

They had two toddlers and those kids won’t fall asleep in a heatwave. Jo was also so hot that it made her irritable. She was snapping at everyone. She snapped at Link. She got upset with Ben because he was hoggin up the ice. And so Jo didn’t want to go alone to buy more ice from across the street.

Jo demanded that one of the interns help her. She got Lucas to drive them to the nearest convenience store. They were going to buy as much ice as possible when they ran into a situation. Something far sinister than what Blue had on his plate. Blue’s former fiancée was back. Molly still doesn’t remember him.

She’s not in love with him. She was in a relationship with someone else. She seemed happy with her boyfriend and so she should have said yes when he asked her to marry him. She instead told him that she needed time to think about it because she kept thinking of Blue.

Molly has been thinking about him ever since he kissed her. She didn’t know go to her parents or her friends after she basically turned down a proposal. She went to Blue. She visited him at the hospital. She wanted to talk, but it was super busy and so she agreed to wait to talk to him.

Blue was trying to figure out what to do with her when his patient took a turn for the worse. Blue and Simone were on Amelia’s service. Amelia shared a patient with Winston. The patient was Jackie. Jackie was eighteen. She has a basketball scholarship to a great school and she might never play again because she has a conditions that gives her aneurysms.

Jackie’s father died from the condition because he was undiagnosed. Time and technology has ensured that Jackie’s condition was caught much faster.

It was now treatable only she was going to need surgery. The hospital originally pushed back surgeries because of the heatwave. Amelia went back on that decision when she saw Jackie’s latest cat scan. Jackie developed a new aneurysm that could kill her if they didn’t treat it fast. Winston agreed with Amelia assessment. He also had to make it up to Jackie and her mom.

Winston went on a date with Jackie’s mom. He was dating a lot since his divorce. He was all over the apps. He wasn’t looking for anything serious and so he ghosted the mom.

Which made things very awkward when he became one of Jackie’s doctors. Winston apologized to the woman for his behavior. He also acted as a listening ear when Jackie’s situation proved to be too tricky just for Amelia to handle. They were rushing to save Jackie’s life as Jo and Lucas were being held at gunpoint at a convenience store.

They went into the store without a problem. They were grabbing the last bag of ice when a gunman entered. He demanded everything in the till. He didn’t even know the doctors were there until the cashier kept looking at them. Lucas begged her with hand gestures to not give them away, but she just couldn’t stop herself.

The gunman turned his head to see what she was looking at. He found the two doctors. He made them join the cashier. He was robbing everyone while Mika was spiraling out. Mika freaked out as she was treating a patient. She begged Bailey to let him die.

Bailey saw for herself that Mika was in no mental condition to return to work. Mika wasn’t functioning. She broke down when she saw the room her sister died in.

She told Simone that she was the closest to Chloe because she got to name her. She already had two younger sisters by that point. She wasn’t really into them. Her parents let her name Chloe so that she could be invested in the new baby. They turned out to be right when they did that because Mika loved Chloe the most of all of them.

Mika tried to bury her pain in her relationship with Jules. They finally slept together. They were happy as a couple and so the only thing Mika was sure about was her career.

She doesn’t know if she could still be a doctor anymore. She knew herself. She was either all in or all out. She’s not sure if she can return as a doctor where her sister died. Bailey told her to do what was best for her. Even if it meant they lost a great doctor. Mika may not be ready to be a doctor only the hospital might gain an attendee in the form of Cassie Beckman.

Yes, the woman with the open marriage that kissed Teddy. Teddy told her husband about it. She also mentioned that she let Cassie down gently and Owen was angry at her for weeks because of it. He was prepared to hate Cassie when they got to know each other during a surgery. Owen likes her.

She’s a good doctor. She has a great sense of humor. He wouldn’t mind working with her again. Or at least he didn’t until he saw Cassie and Teddy talking. He got all jealous. He refused to talk to his wife again and the hospital had to shut down the ER because they were overcrowded.

Owen ran into his old friend Nora and hopefully he doesn’t cheat on his new wife like he did the others.

Blue and Simone also got to watch their attendees pull off a daring surgery. They removed all of the aneurysms Jackie had. Blue was so happy that he ran into Molly’s arms. Which turned out to be a mistake because Jackie’s condition took a turn for the worse. She was dying on the table with the doctors trying everything to bring her back.

And Jo began bleeding out. She told Lucas she was pregnant and he tried to help her. He tackled the gunman. They were fighting over the gun when it went off and there’s no telling who got shot.

THE END!
