In tonight’s Law & Orders SVU episode, the jury was deliberating on George Bouchard. The Canadian was on trial for abducting Maddie Flynn. He abducted her and he sold her to a pedophile. The pedophile was killed in prison. Maddie was able to take the stand at trial. She identified Geroge as a kidnapper.
There was also a whole bunch of evidence against him. They connected him to the car used to abduct Maddie. They even connected him to the pedophile he sold her to. Most of the jurors knew he was guilty. There was just this one holdout. She agreed to go with the majority and then she changed her mind when the jury was polled.
Juror 8 swore George was innocent. She was young. She was pretty. George was none of those things. It makes no sense why she’s fascinated with him, but there are women that write serial killers and so the judge wanted to speak with her. She called a meeting between the lawyers.
The juror was allowed to attend. The juror was identified as Slater Dent. She was questioned. She openly admitted that she couldn’t wait to have a future with him. They were in love. All George did was stare at her all throughout trial and she’s written a romance novel about it.
George knew she was susceptible. Its why he paid her the extra attention. Only the jury couldn’t deliberate with one of them being in love with the defendant. The judge was forced to deem it a mistrial. There was going to be a second trial. Maddie’s mom didn’t think she could go through it all again.
Maddie has been struggling since being freed. She was struggling with addiction. She also confessed to her mom that she hadn’t told the full truth. She had been sexually assaulted by George. She claimed in the beginning that he didn’t interfere with her because she considered it consensual.
Maddie was fifteen. She was also high on fentanyl at the time. She couldn’t have consented to anything. Which her mother realized. Her mother went to Captain Benson.
She told her what Maddie told her. She also said that Maddie was struggling with addiction. She noticed that some oxy she got after surgery was missing. She suspected Maddie had taken it. She was worried about what another trial would do. Benson was focusing on other things. She later asked Maddie to come in. They wanted to get her on the record about the sex abuse.
They got Maddie to see that it wasn’t consensual. George played her and the addiction he gave her. George was crazy. He unfortunately can back up the crazy by convincing young women to fall in love with him. Maddie was partly trying to protect him because he was her first kiss. He was first with a lot of things for her. He even wears her hair in a pouch he uses as a necklace. He told Maddie it’s because he cares for her. Not enough to not sell her to a pedophile. Just enough to convince her they had something special.
George was good at making women believe that. He also fired his attorney. He was representing himself at the new trial and he got the judge to agree to a millionaire dollar bond.
He sadly paid that in an hour. He was free to cause havoc. George has some benefactors willing to do anything for him. One of them was Maddie’s mom. Eileen’s husband who also happens to be Maddie’s dad brought his wife’s cell phone to Benson. He showed her that his wife has been sexting George since his release. Eileen has fallen under his spell.
It could be why she kept saying Maddie wasn’t strong enough for another trial only Benson’s hands were tied. There wasn’t any laws stopping Eileen from being disgusting.
Eileen actually tried to claim that she was toying with George to get him to confess. Benson wasn’t sure if she should believe her or not. She did tell Eileen that toying with George wasn’t going to end well. George doesn’t feel empathy or remorse. He represented himself at the second trial. He toyed with everyone on the stand. This included Maddie. He first claimed he didn’t want to traumatize her anymore than ADA Carisi did. He got called out for that.
George did get around to questioning Maddie. He asked her if she liked what he did to her. She reluctantly admitted she did and then George went off a tangent about how he’s not a monster. He just sexually abused a minor on drugs. Anyways, George rested his case after he psychologically tore down both Maddie and Special Agent Sykes.
He accused Sykes of abusing him. He said she was traumatized by the disappearance of her sister. He was getting his way in practically everything and that’s when Eileen chose to visit his motel room.
Eileen truly was trying to play him. She no longer cares about that. She saw what he did to her daughter on the stand and she brought along a gun because she wanted that pouch of her daughter’s hair. She wanted to free her daughter from George’s influence. Benson showed up at the motel room.
She had her people keeping watch on George. They notified her when they saw Eileen. She showed up and she was able to talk Eileen down. They got the pouch. And Eileen put her gun away before she hurt him.
The gun was unloaded. Eileen will most likely get probation for what she did. George meanwhile was found guilty of all charges and his charisma was no longer destroying lives. He’ll be sent away for years.
Benson also scheduled an appointment for Maddie with Benson’s own therapist.
THE END!
