In tonight’s Law & Order episode, there was a known prostitute hangout. Most of these women there were being controlled by pimps. The pimps hung out in a nearby area and they picked up their girls once things got too late.
Only there was one young woman that was there on her own. She wasn’t controlled by a pimp or a madam. She was out on her own and someone took note of that. They waited until Wallen Sipes left the area to attack her. They raped her and left her on the street. Wallen called the cops. She also asked for Detective Bruno.
Tonight’s assault wasn’t the first time that Wallen has been sexually assaulted. She was also attacked in the Bronx back when Bruno was with the Bronx SVU. Her attacker at the time had left her for dead. The SVU detectives found her and they got her help. Her perp was also caught. He was now in prison.
Bruno helped Wallen before and he wanted to do so again. Even if Wallen didn’t want to be cooperative. Wallen went to the hospital. She was given time to think. She realized that she survived rape before and that she didn’t want to bring unnecessary attention to herself.
Wallen refused the rape kit. She also didn’t want to admit she was still in sex work. She just wanted to move on like nothing happened and the cops pushed her to file charges. They reminded her that they got justice for her once. They could do it again. Bruno talked Wallen into getting the rape kit.
It came back with the evidence of three men. Wallen wouldn’t admit she was still a prostitute and there was no way they could differentiate between her johns and her attacker without her help. Wallen may trust Bruno. And it was clear that it only went up to a certain point.
It was frustrating for Captain Benson. She was already dealing with problems thanks to Carisi. Carisi tracked down the guy that checked out his nine year old daughter and he found out the man was a substitute teacher. His name is Timonthy Cottle. His last job was at an elementary school.
Carisi wanted to go barging in by telling the school that the sub was a pedophile. He didn’t even care that there was no evidence this man was an actual pedophile. Cottle doesn’t have a record. The cops have no proof other than that one time he checked out a little kid.
Benson told Carisi to go about it the legal way. Carisi looked into Cottle’s background. He found out that one mother reported him for giving her daughter the ick. It never turned into an official investigation and so Cottle was still in the clear.
Carisi couldn’t arrest him. Benson couldn’t open an investigation into him. Their hands were tied by the system. The man was innocent until proven guilty. Benson tried to tell Carisi to drop it and she continued to investigate Wallen’s case. Wallen’s rape was caught on camera.
The car the perp dragged her behind had a camera in the truck. It was an electric vehicle. The man’s face was covered only Wallen’s attacker assaulted her from behind. Wallen had a client a few minutes before the attack that demanded butt stuff. Wallen wouldn’t do it. It’s her one rule.
The guy seemed really upset because his regular girl wasn’t there. He tried to convince Wallen to do things his way because another prostitute known as Jade usually does anything for a buck. And coincidentally, Wallen gave Jade some money so that the girl could go home early.
Jade later identified the guy. She said his name is Miguel Rivera. He was from the Bronx. He got aggressive with Wallen when she was in his car and she fought him off. She ripped off one of his buttons. The video of the rape showed the attacker was missing a button. The same one she ripped off. The cops later questioned Miguel.
He said he was home asleep when Wallen was attacked. His sister was his alibi. Her name is Tiana. The siblings were claiming that he knocked on her window because he forgot his keys and so she had to let him in. She said it happened at midnight.
The cops know she’s lying. Wallen also knows she’s lying. The sister wasn’t breaking her story because she felt she owed Miguel. He protected her from their abusive father and she still sees him as her hero. Only the cops found out about the other victims. They went back to that hotspot for hookers.
They learned that none of the seasoned hookers get into Miguel’s car anymore. He demands anal. He tries to choke them with his belt if they wouldn’t agree and so it was only newbies or desperate women that still get into his car nowadays.
Miguel’s alibi for the other sexual assaults were always his sister, Tiana. Tiana has been lying for him for years. The cops showed her the evidence against Miguel. They even showed her that she helped cover for Wallen’s rape when she fixed his button on his shirt. It was the button that helped her see her brother as he really is.
He was sick. Tiana gave Miguel’s shirt to the cops. She also gave them the cloth he covered his face with and the belt he used to choke Wallen. The cops had enough evidence to force Miguel into a plea deal. And he was stuck in prison while they work out the details.
As for Cottle, Carisi got him fired when he began asking questions at the school. It didn’t upset Cottle because he knew Carisi was right to do what he did.
Cottle later went to Carisi for help. He admitted he’s sexually attracted to little girls and, while he’s never acted on the impulse, he knew he needed help. He begged Carisi for help. Carisi found him a therapy group to help modify his behavior. And hopefully Cottle will come out a better man.
It turns out Wallen didn’t want to cooperate with the police because she has a kid now. She didn’t want CPS to take her son away because she was a hooker. The cops told her she doesn’t have to face charges for her job. They also offered to help her get a scholarship while she goes back to school.
