Sam was still hanging around Hawaii. Tennant couldn’t figure out why. It left her a little concerned and so she wanted to ask Sam if he was in Hawaii because he liked it there or if he was there to keep an eye on her? Tennant eventually got caught up in a case. She saved her question for Sam for later. She and the others were called in after someone stole from the Navy Federal Credit Union. This guy stole about a hundred-fifty thousand dollars. He got away on a motorcycle. He then led police in a motorcycle chase that ended with him jumping off of a cliff. And getting away on a jet ski being driven by an co-conspirator.
It was a great heist. It was well thought out. It took a lot of planning for everything to run smoothly. The fact that nothing went wrong for the thieves meant they were too good at this. Like they’ve done this before. Tennant was looking into that. She had the FBI there to help. They usually handle bank heists. The case was only different because it involved the Navy’s bank. One used by servicemen and women. Tennant had Whistler look into similar cases while she tried asking Sam about this alleged class he was in town to teach.
Sam has been telling everyone that he was teaching a class. Yet, Tennant wasn’t alone in thinking that was odd. Ernie was right there with conspiracy theories as well. Ernie thought it odd that Sam was repeatedly telling everyone he was teaching a class and Ernie thought he said it too much. He thought that there was no way that the Los Angeles Office would give away one of their best agents so that he could teach a couple of seminars. Ernie told Tennant what he thought and she agreed with him. Sam’s career change didn’t make sense.
Jesse meanwhile identified the bike that was left behind. It wasn’t a motorcycle in the traditional sense. It was a motorcross bike. There was a huge scene of it on the island. Jesse used to be into it and then he got married, had kids, and got a cat. He could no longer afford to do a dangerous stunt. He has a family to think about. He still thinks about the past though because he took one look at that bike and he knew instantly what the make and model of it was. He also knew that it costs thousands of dollars.
It costs half of what was stolen. Why still the money if they planned on abandoning everything they bought with it? It only makes sense if the heist wasn’t about money. It was about the thrill. Ernie found out that there was a similar crime in London a couple of months ago. He said that the thieves made off with thirty thousand dollars of cash that was in a museum safe. They could have stolen a painting. They could have made a lot more money with a painting than with the cash. And so they did it because they got a thrill from stealing.
It was never about the money. The money was just an added bonus. Jesse took Kate and Kai took a motocross rally. They learned that a couple of bikes had gotten stolen the night before. Jesse also met his childhood idol, TJ Shaw. TJ doesn’t rides bikes anymore. Only he used to. He used to be at the top of the game. Jesse fangirled over him before he remembered the case and he went back to investigating. His thing with TJ came in handy later. The agents followed the bikers to a nearby bar. One guy was throwing around cash.
He threw hundreds of dollars into the air while saying drinks were on him that night. The guy’s name was Xavier Duvall. He became important once they started looking into possible suspects. Jesse ran into TJ at the bar. TJ never married or had kids. He now lives on the road with bikers. They travel around the world. They surf. They bike. They do everything. Jesse was jealous of them and he got to hang out with all of them after TJ became his in. Jesse had one of the best nights of his life. And he wonders how his life became boring old dad.
It couldn’t be because he married young or had kids. Tennant did the same. Sam did the same. They both still got to travel the world and so Jesse was boring because he allowed himself to be boring. Anyways, Jesse partied with the guys. He tried to later use that to get Xavier to come in peacefully. They figured out that Xavier was one of the people involved in the bank heists because of the money. They checked the money and it was the same as those taken from the heist. Xavier saw the police. He ran. He later got hit by a garbage truck and died.
With Xavier dead, Jesse tried his luck with the other guys. He pretended to be a fan. He went extreme surfing with TJ and he tried to talk to TJ about the heists. TJ figured out he was in law enforcement. He told them that he tried to stop kids from doing what they were doing. He said that they loved the thrill. TJ only went surfing with Jesse so that the other guys could get away. They all suspected Jesse was a cop. Jesse called his people. They started looking for the other bikers. Sam caught with two that he easily subdued.
It turns out that the bro code was dead. Some of the guys were given paper filled bags. They weren’t money and so they figured out someone was major was pulling the strings the same time that Jesse did. Jesse came to on a plane flying thousands of leagues above the ocean. TJ had been the mastermind of all the heists. He kidnapped Jesse. He brought him onto a plane. He then parachuted out of the plane with the real money. There was no second parachute. He left Jesse to die. Jesse had to use the radio to talk to Tennant. He learned to fly on the fly.
Tennant talked Jesse through the process so that he could land safely. He was saved. He also learned how to fly and has lived more in the past few days than he has in years. And he couldn’t wait to put it behind him the second he landed.
Tennant meanwhile walked in on one of Sam’s classes and they were really real. Either he was actually there to teach seminars or it’s a cover for something. She’s not sure what to believe after a day like today.
