According to TV Insider, actor Robert Taylor, best known for his Walt Longmire character in the A&E/Netflix Western crime drama, Longmire, has been cast in the role of Gibbs’ dad for NCIS: Origins the prequel to NCIS. He will have a recurring role on the show.
NCIS: Origins: More On Jackson Gibbs
For fans that recall, Jackson Gibbs had a falling out with his son Leroy Jethro Gibbs and didn’t talk to him for 15 years. He made his first appearance on the mothership show, played by actor Ralf Waite, in Season 6, and was seen for seven episodes before the character passed away.
The two were able to finally make amends before he died. Still, there are so many questions fans have about their complicated relationship.
As NCIS: Origins takes place years before NCIS happened, so there’s a good chance that viewers will see the beginnings (or possibly the middle) of what happened between the father and son, firsthand, all those years ago.
