In tonight’s NCIS episode, Director Vance was the father of two children. His daughter followed in his footsteps. Kayla joined NCIS. His son was a different story. He and Jared don’t speak. Vance has to learn about his son through his daughter. He hasn’t seen his son in months until they ran into each other at his late wife’s grave.
Vance was telling his late wife everything that’s changed when Jared interrupted him. Jared came to see his mom as well. He brought along flowers. He didn’t want to get into it with his dad, but he did anyways because he felt his dad has given too much to NCIS. And he was worried about what else it would take from them.
Jared’s concerns were valid. Especially after tonight. His father was shot at his mother’s grave. Jared didn’t hear a gun nor did he realize his father was shot at first. It took the Director collapsing for Jared to see that he was bleeding from his back. He had been shot from a sniper rifle. Its why Jared didn’t hear anything.
Jared also mapped out where he and his father was standing for NCIS. He wanted to be helpful. He remembered everything when most people would have forgotten in the heat of the moment. Jared came in handy when Parker and his team took over the case.
Parker went to the hospital with McGee. He sent Knight and Torres to the crime scene. Kasie and Palmer also stopped by the hospital to get an update on the Director’s condition. While they were there, Kasie got the bullet. She was going to head back to her office to run tests and that’s when it happened.
There was a terrorist attack in Washington DC. Knight and Torres saw the whole thing. They managed to track down the roof where the sniper set up his weapon. They were up there looking for evidence when they saw fires sprouting up all around the city.
There were three explosions that went off. One was at the Morrow family crypt at the same cemetery that the Director’s late wife was buried. The second explosion was at a medical complex right outside of Dr. Rachel Cranston’s office. The third explosion was at Fornell’s garage. Someone was targeting NCIS and they went after their history.
Morrow was the Director of NCIS before Vance. Rachel was McGee’s former partner’s sister. She also helped with several cases. As for Fornell, he’s been saving NCIS for almost twenty years.
The explosions didn’t happen until Torres and Knight were on that roof. Their sniper wanted them to get the best view of the attacks. They also weren’t done. The Director made it out of his surgery. He appointed McGee as Acting Director while he recovers. No sooner did that happen that Jared apologized to McGee for his dad. He said that other people shouldn’t put their families at risk like his dad did. It was an odd way to view their careers and he said it right before McGee got an alert about an attack at his apartment.
There were several other alerts right after that. Parker’s apartment was targeted. Along with everyone else at NCIS. The alerts were all faked. They thought their system must have been hacked. They use an app called Bandium to stay on guard. The app was created by Fletcher Voss. McGee asked the man himself to come in once he made sure his family got to his in-laws just fine. Voss was considered a visionary. Only he was also just plain weird. He’s been forced out of every company he’s ever started. He was funding a private trip to the moon. Bandium was his last chance.
Voss wanted to sell Bandium to NCIS. He was hoping to have it used in every office. Which could be a problem now that they know it can be hacked. They asked to look at his servers. He tried to stall them because he said that their servers hold proprietary information. They basically told them they either see it or it never gets used again in another governmental agency. Voss was working on getting them servers when they realize how whoever was doing this knew where Vance would be.
The person doing this was a woman named Lindsey Wexler. She started an online profile on a dating site and she got close to Jared. The same Jared that was angry at his dad. He needed to vent to someone.
He figured why not with the woman that seemed perfect. He was used. He was so angry after his girlfriend was arrested. He thought the agents were suspecting the wrong person until he learned a little bit more about Lindsey. Lindsey has been spouting anti-NCIS messages for years. She met someone on a forum a couple of months ago named “GravitasMons”.
This person fed her faked documents that accuse NCIS of numerous monstrosities. This included mass murder. Kasie saw the files and she proved they were all fake. Anyone could have proved they were fake with a computer. Lindsey didn’t even bother to research most of these crimes. She just went along because she already had an agenda. The team tracked down the person she was speaking with and they identified him as Voss. They thought Voss was the mastermind only they were wrong.
Voss didn’t play Lindsey. She played him. She knew she was being used. She planted a virus on his cell phone so that she could hack NCIS. She led everything back to him because she figured he would be a great fall guy. The only thing she didn’t see coming was Fornell. Fornell recognized a quote she used.
He said he heard ir once before. He heard it from a case over twenty years ago. It was the case involving the terrorist named Leonard Rish. Rish was a sleeper agent that tried to kill people on Air Force One.
Lindsey was once Lindsey Rish. Her mom changed their names after her father was killed by Gibbs. Lindsey must have found his manifesto and read them.
She came to hate NCIS for stopping her father. So, when Voss entered the picture, she hacked him knowing he was about to go on Air Force One. Her plan was take down the plane with the president on board. NCIS called the Secret Service. They told them not to take off and they were going to ignore it because they didn’t understand the significant hack.
NCIS had to literally stand in front of the plane to stop it taking off. They checked the plane. It had been hacked. They saved the president’s life and now they can rack up the charges for Lindsey.
Voss also wasn’t getting off either. He tried to get Lindsey to kill Vance because Vance was stopping NCIS from using Badium in all of their offices. Badium was his last company. He didn’t want to lose it or go bankrupt. He was now facing charges. And the whole thing just made Jared realize he needs to talk to his dad.
Jared stopped by the hospital while the rest of the team was congratulating Curtis. Curtis was one of the basement trolls. He wanted to become an active agent and so he shadowed them on this case hoping to get a recommendation to become a probie. And he got that after tracing the hack.
THE END!
