NCIS Special Agent Jessica Knight was a good sister. Her sister Robin celebrated graduating an online course. Her specialty was all over the place. Everyone knew the new degree meant nothing. It just didn’t matter to either Robin or Knight. The sisters threw a party and it turned into a rager. Knight was drinking toe to toe with Robin.
Torres thought she’d call out sick and she came to work the next day like nothing happened. Knight was just fine. It was Torres that was downing electrolytes. He was going to make a joke out of it when he heard they caught a new case. A new secret case involving Freddy Martin.
Martin was a defense contractor. Someone broke into his home. The invader was killed and now the Secretary of Defense wants NCIS to personally investigate the matter. It wasn’t Freddy that killed the mystery man. It was his girlfriend, Sheila. Which his wife Melinda was ticked off about.
She showed up at the scene a few minutes after NCIS and she wanted a private conversation with her husband. She wanted to ream him out behind closed doors, but the apartment was a crime scene. They couldn’t leave her alone in a crime scene. It went against all of their rules.
Also, Melinda was a suspect. The man that broke into the apartment had known about the panic room. He might have gone there intending to kill Martin. The only person that had a clear motive on wanting Martin dead was his wife. Melinda didn’t seem surprised when she showed up at the scene.
She asked Sheila to give her the robe back and then she used the rest of her time to demanding that the whole situation stays under wraps. It was already rumored that her husband constantly cheated on her. She didn’t want anyone to tank their brand by attaching a murder to their name.
Melinda put her husband on a flight to Geneva Convention. He was attending a diplomatic conference. She stayed behind to take note of everything that was destroyed by NCIS. They ruined the rug.
They messed up the chandeliers. She wanted a full account of everything. The one thing that didn’t shock her was the dead body. The mystery person broke into the apartment. He could’ve wanted to kill her husband and was instead killed by his mistress. It was Sheila that shot the intruder. And that didn’t faze Melinda at all.
The one thing that did stump her was the revelation she was the target all along. NCIS tried to identify their failed kidnapper. It was taking time to get a name.
Only they did gain access to his burner phone. The guy was taking photos of Melinda. The man was following Melinda. He wanted to abduct Melinda. Melinda said she never met the man. She had no idea who he was or why he wanted to hurt her. She was a philanthropist. She was well-known socialite on the DC circuit. She was in charge of a discretionary fund attached to her charity.
Melida wasn’t upset that someone wanted to abduct her. She went ahead with her day like nothing happened. It wasn’t until NCIS identified the gunman as Edward Silvino from Missouri that Melinda finally showed some emotion.
Melinda was not that woman’s real name. She stole the identity of the real Melinda Willis that died twenty years ago. She went on to meet Martin. They got married. He became a billionaire. She became his philanthropist wife. None suspected that Melinda was lying about her identity.
Melinda also locked Knight in the panic room while she escaped. She was on the run from whatever or whoever was in Kansas City. It took Knight two hours to get out of that room and by then the rest of the team was looking for Melinda. Her real name is April. She grew up in a trailer park. She started dating a guy named Jason Marino.
Then he died. She went on the run and no one knows why. Marino was the son of Carla Marino. She was a mob boss in Kansas City. Her son Jason wasn’t involved in the lifestyle. He died in a car accident.
Carla has been looking for April/Melinda ever since. NCIS initially thought Carla might have helped Melinda meet Martin in order to skim money from the Secretary of Defense, but that wasn’t it.
Carla caught up to Melinda. She took her prisoner. She also took Knight prisoner. Knight witnessed Carla’s men take a DNA sample from Melinda. She thought was odd so she got the full story from Melinda. Melinda and Jason had run away from Missouri. They wanted to start over somewhere fresh. Then Jason died. He got hit by a car while trying to get them something to eat.
Melinda was three months pregnant at the time. She wasn’t ready to be a single mom. She also knew that Carla would keep looking for them and so she got in touch with a priest.
He helped put her baby up for adoption. She started over as Melinda. She has no clue where her daughter ended up. She didn’t want to know because she didn’t want to reveal anything if Carla ever found her. Carla took Melinda’s DNA to find her granddaughter. She put on those ancestry websites. She found out that her granddaughter was a florist.
Her name is Lauren. NCIS arrested Carla when she went to Lauren’s business, but she’s going to get off. They couldn’t even connect her to the priest’s death. Her men claimed it was all them when they abducted Melinda.
She wasn’t harmed and neither was Knight. Carla was never seen by anyone giving them orders. The only upside was that Parker forced her to go back to Missouri. And she’ll be arrested if she ever contacts Melinda or Lauren again.
Carla went back home. Melinda in the meantime met her daughter. Lauren was a good kid and she’s lived a great life thanks to the sacrifice Melinda made for her. Melinda also wasn’t so bad. She and Knight developed a friendship.
THE END!
