In tonight’s NCIS episode, McGee was regretting his recent choices. He volunteered to referee his children’s local soccer league. He thought it would be fun and he had no clue that he would be dealing with angry parents all day. He was still arguing on the phone with one parent when they caught a case.
NCIS were brought in to investigate the death of Naval Dr. Roger Carnahan. The victim appeared to have killed himself. He took off his wedding ring right before he shot himself. The team were questioning why he would do that much less in a public park when Knight came across the answer. Knight used his face to open his phone and that’s when she saw the photos of Roger’s wife in a motel with Torres.
Torres had called in sick that day. He wasn’t with them when they found Roger. He was still at the motel with the victim’s wife and so the team set out to surprise him. They went to the motel.
They found Torres. He asked them what brings him there. They said they were wondering about the same thing with him. Torres was found with Amber Carnahan. They weren’t having an affair after all. She was his criminal informant. She met Torres at a party that SECNAV threw a month ago. And she turned to him because she suspected her husband was about to commit a crime.
Amber’s husband had interrupted them when she tried to tell Torres everything. Torres then snuck his card to Amber and he told her that she could contact him at any time. She did just that on the day her husband died.
There was evidence he killed himself. There were also people swearing he would never kill himself. Amber on the other hand seemed relieved. Her husband was a piece of work. He got her away from her job. He limited her friends. She doesn’t have family. He made sure he was her whole world.
Only Amber knew he couldn’t be trusted. She contacted Torres because she found out that her husband was selling top secret information. NCIS checked. Roger did access the ONR system and he stole information on the “Mad Falon”.
It was the first hypersonic nuclear weapon in the American military. It would change warfare forever. Roger was probably worried about getting caught and that’s why he hired a private investigator to follow around his wife. The team never got a chance to question Amber about it because someone abducted her from the diner.
Amber was missing. She was grabbed by someone in a white van. There was another white van at the motel and it turns out there were two white vans out there. The first one at the motel was in fact the private investigator. The one that Roger hired to track his wife. The PI’s name is Harrold Lamb. He works with an assistant named Daniel Simmons. They have an alibi for when Amber was grabbed. They also had an alibi for Roger’s murder. And it was murder because Jimmy determined that Roger hadn’t killed himself.
NCIS got into touch with Lamb. Lamb used to be former Navy. He was also the one that ran the background check on Roger and so he knew Roger before he was hired to follow Amber, but Torres kept butting heads with Lamb. It got especially bad once they determined that Amber played Torres.
Amber got access to the SECNAV guest list before the party. She also got access to Torres’s private NCIS file. She found out about the abuse his mother suffered from her boyfriend and so she played into Torres’s protective behavior to get close to him.
The one thing he couldn’t figure out was why. Amber could have stolen the information about the missile and sell it without ever contacting Torres. For some reason, she set her sights on him. Torres was so angry about being played that he took out on Lamb. Lamb argued back. Knight had to break up the argument. She calmed everyone down and Lamb eventually admitted that he planted a tracker on Amber. NCIS went to a warehouse where they found Amber tied up in the back of a white van. They also found the body of Dr. Wendy Lythcott.
Lythcott was Roger’s coworker. She seemed worried about Amber when she heard she was abducted. The team couldn’t understand why she was at the scene or why she had been killed while Amber was unharmed. The team also found a 3D printer in the warehouse. It was printing the Mad Falcon. Except their version was a vacuum. Amber was taken back to the office and they interrogated her. Amber said Lythcott was her one friend. The Navy did work on a missile program. It didn’t work. It was a dud and so Roger had it shelved.
Lythcott spent years on the program. She was talking to Amber about it when Amber realized they could turn into a vacuum. Amber used to sell things on the shopping network. She has contacts in sales. She could help Lythcott launch the newest vacuum. They stole it from Roger. Roger was never supposed to find out and that meant they didn’t have a reason to kill him. The real killer proved to be Danny. Lamb’s assistant. He was following Amber around and he heard her talking about a secret program. He wanted to steal it for himself only he didn’t count on it being a vacuum.
Danny thought he was stealing a missile. He also tried to kill Lamb and NCIS put him down before he could hurt anyone else. It turns out Torres was right about Amber. She wouldn’t hurt anyone. She just wanted out of her marriage. Even if it meant her husband got in trouble for losing the Mad Falcon.
And Jimmy later retired from being a referee because the stress was getting to him, but now McGee was on his own against so many parents. Angry angry parents.
THE END!
