Queen Latifah Currently Negotiating The Equalizer Season 5

After CBS dropped the cancellation hammer on So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas recently, a new report from Deadline reveals The Equalizer will likely return and get renewed by the network. The Queen Latifah drama is top-ranked when it comes to linear viewership and #7 among all non-sports programs.

As per sources, the executive producer and the star of the show, Queen Latifah, is currently in the final stages of negotiating Season 5, and the details should be announced soon.

The Equalizer Season 4 Has Seen Improvements

The Equalizer has improved a tremendous amount, from Season 4 to Season 3. According to TV Series Finale, Season 4 of the show has averaged 6.5 million viewers with a 0.49 rating within the 18-49 demographic. Meanwhile, Season 3 of the drama averaged 0.50 in this demographic, and 4.5 million fans tuned in.

In addition, CBS, along with Universal Television (the show’s producing studio) has had challenging license fee negotiations; however, they have reached an agreement thanks to the drama’s popularity alongside FBI and its TV spinoffs. Interestingly enough, the FBI franchise also comes from Universal Television.

What About NCIS: Hawai’i?

Along with The Equalizer, fans of NCIS: Hawai’i are still waiting to hear about the show’s fate for the 2024-2025 season. If the drama is renewed for Season 4 there is a good chance that it will only have (in and around) 13 episodes because of budget cuts.

Still, this would be a better option than cancellation. There’s only so much space in CBS’s schedule, so it’s hard to say what will happen next. There’s also always the possibility that NCIS: Hawai’i will simply make the move away from the network and to streaming service, Paramount+. Only time will tell.

Regardless, the network should be announcing their decisions on these shows any day now.
