On tonight’s S.W.A.T. season 7 episode 4 called “Spare Parts” as per the CBS synopsis, “SWAT hunts down a Chilean arms dealer after he kidnaps a woman and her daughter from a party in L.A. with unexpected intentions.
Crossing paths with his brother, Tan is forced to come clean to his family about his divorce from Bonnie, while Hondo discovers that Hicks has received a job offer that could lure him away from SWAT, in part one of a two-part episode of S.W.A.T.”

Several gunmen interrupted a pool party. The party was being thrown at a doctor’s house. The gunmen showed up looking for the doctor and her family. They wanted the whole Nelson family. This included their children. The gunmen missed a woman who went inside to grab the dips. She was able to call 911 and the police initially sent a token force of two. What good would two do? They should have deployed SWAT right away. They instead waited until shots were fired to call them and that’s when Hondo’s team was finally deployed.
There were about twenty people at the party. Most of them were moved to the beach house. SWAT quickly freed them and they even rescued the woman who made the 911 call. There was just one bad guy guarding the place. The rest left with the Nelson family. Or as much of them they could find. The people left behind were questioned about what happened. Tan recognized one member of the party being his brother, Jacob. Jacob worked with Anna Nelson at the same hospital. They were good friends. And the woman that called 911 was Jacob’s girlfriend.
Which was a problem for Tan because he knows his brother is married. Tan may not have been all caught up in his brother’s life only he knew enough to realize that woman wasn’t his wife. His brother was cheating on his wife. This was a sore subject for Tan because his wife cheated on him. Bonnie kept taking jobs on the road to sleep with her boss. She thought her boss was going to leave his wife for her and surprisingly that didn’t happen. He stuck with his wife. Bonnie was suddenly on her own. She tried getting back together with Tan once she saw she wasn’t getting the man she wanted.
Thankfully, Tan didn’t take her back. It was still a sore subject for him though. Tan couldn’t forgive his wife for her betrayal and he wanted to side with his actual sister-in-law over his brother’s mistress. Tan has met his sister-in-law. He knows Claire. He likes her. She and Jacob have two children. Jacob should never have brought this side chick to a work party. The disrespect was off the charts. Jacob and Claire have been together since med school. He should have brought his wife to the party. Not his girlfriend. Tan was getting worked up and so he stepped away from the situation.
He left his brother to be questioned by detectives. He meanwhile was looking for the Nelson family. SWAT learned that Anna Nelson along with her daughter were abducted that day. Her husband hadn’t been at the party. Her husband was Tony Nelson. He was weapons dealer for the American government. He used to sell weapons to the Chile government on behalf of his government. Until Vincente Munoz got into bed with terrorists. He suddenly paid fifty million dollars to buy up a bunch of weapons and the American government shut the deal down because they figured out his true motives.
The weapons were never sold to Munoz. The American government still kept his fifty million dollars. They were just go leave him blowing in the breeze when Munoz decided to strike back at Tony. Tony was once a friend. They were close before Munoz’s terrorist ties were revealed. Tony even had Munoz over for dinner at his home. It’s how he knew where to find Tony’s family when he wanted revenge. Munoz was already on the run. He was wanted by his government. He was wanted by the American government. And so that fifty million dollars stopped him from living a cushy life on the run.
SWAT theorized that idea. They were only partially right. Munoz grabbed Anna because he needed her to perform surgery. Something SWAT figured out when Munoz’s men grabbed several medical supplies from Anna’s hospital along with an anesthesiologist. Munoz had a heart problem. Anna spotted him when he was over for dinner once. It was a genetic heart disease. Tan’s brother Jacob said Anna was an expert in the field and that she would know the surgery for Brugada syndrome. Jacob also added that the surgery could be done anywhere in LA.
There were so many spas and plastic surgery offices in LA that locating them would be impossible. Jacob had a talk with Tan and Tan finally admitted he was divorced. He hadn’t told his brother. He thought his brother had the perfect life. He didn’t want to feel like a failure next to him. Only now he knows his perfect brother is cheating on his perfect marriage. Jacob admitted he thought of his family when he was facing down a gun. He said it takes three people for an affair to work. He was still trying to blame his wife for his actions and so Tan almost hit him for it.
Commander Hicks kept things from popping off with the brothers.
SWAT later rescued the teenage Ellie Nelson. They tracked her by tracking the car that took her. She was unfortunately being held separately from her mother. She heard that they planned on killing the hostages after the surgery and was naturally concerned for her mom. Ellie didn’t hear much, but she heard them use the word “Studio Vista”. It turns out one of Munoz’s men had bariatric surgery at a plastic surgeon’s office in the Studio Vista strip. Munoz desperately needs his surgery. He’ll die without it. He can’t go to a hospital what with being a wanted man and so he threatened Anna into performing the surgery.
They had Munoz under when SWAT got to the strip mall. They used flash bomb to knock out the men in the front. They barged into the operating room to find one last gunman threatening to kill Anna. He has three hostages surrounding him. Munoz was on the table and unable to give anyone an order. SWAT ended up in a stand off with this one gunman. Munoz’s vitals suddenly took a turn. The gunmen allowed Anna and the anesthesiologist to finish surgery. He wouldn’t allow his third hostage to help. And so Hondo gloved up to help save Munoz’s life.
Hondo got the drop on their final gunman. It happened after Anna save Munoz’s life and so Munoz was saved. He got the necessary heart implant. He’ll live a long life behind bars for his crime. And Anna thanked Tan because she said the two brothers were always saving lives.
Tan and Jacob went out for ice cream. Jacob apologized for implying Tan deserved to get cheated on. He also realized Claire wasn’t to blame for his actions and so he volunteered to help Tan break the news about his divorce to their mom. And Hondo apologized to his father after his father did a favor for Nichelle.
Pops had gotten a catalytic converter for her car that Hondo thought was stolen until Pops proved differently.
