In tonight’s S.W.A.T. episode, Luca was shot trying to stop a robbery in progress. He was shot multiple times. He was rushed to the hospital. He was fighting for his life and everyone around him fell apart. They couldn’t believe that something like that would happen in broad daylight.

Much less to Luca. Luca was the nicest guy. He was always there for his friends. He put SWAT before everything else. He never married or had kids. He devoted himself to the job. He became a mentor to the younger officers as well as to children in need. Luca even welcomed his half-sister into the family and she was the result of an affair their dad had with her mom. He’s that good of a person.

Luca survived surgery. It was a miracle. The bullet came close to his heart and never touched it. There was also some good news. The robbery crew responsible for the shooting weren’t smart. The detective on the case easily traced the getaway car to Omar Woodman.

SWAT had to send a team to collect him and Hondo demanded that it’d be his team. He knew he couldn’t kill the guy. There were going to be eyes on them. They couldn’t risk this guy getting away because of a technicality. It all had to be above board.

Hondo understood that. He still wanted to be the team to arrest Omar because they wanted justice for their friend. Hicks agreed to let them go. Hondo and his team surprised Omar. They got him before he could reach his gun. They had to tase him when he picked up a knife.

Omar wouldn’t talk after that. He claimed that his friends would kill him if he ever learned he talked and so he refused to talk. They sent him to prison. They were hoping a few weeks in there would open his eyes. They weren’t wrong because Omar reached out to his lawyer.

Omar was ready to make a deal when he got killed in prison. He was stabbed to death by Rick Fontana. His killer had nothing to lose because he was a lifer and so good old Rick killed Omar for Omar’s friends. His friends apparently got to Rick’s girlfriend. Or she was his girlfriend.

Her name is Devon. She’s a stripper. She also has a child with special needs. She was paid ten grand to get her locked up boyfriend to kill Omar. Rick was still sweet on her and he didn’t care about killing someone.

The cops got Rick to talk by threatening his brother. The same brother that turned his life around. He opened a restaurant. He started a family. The restaurant was a front for illegal gambling, but the brother was Rick’s soft spot. He told the cops about Devon to get them to leave his brother alone.

The cops then went to Devon. She refused to say who paid her to get Rick to kill. Powell noticed Devon’s ring was one of the stolen items from the jewelry store. They connected her to the robbery and were going to arrest her until she talked.

Devon said the guy that paid her was Rocco. He was the bouncer at the strip club. Powell and Alfaro walked right past him when they came in. He saw them and he ran while they were talking to Devon. Rocco was in the wind. Only they knew who robbed the jewelry store.

They checked his phone records. He was in frequent contact with two men. They were Jerry Ramos and Hank David. The latter was the one that shot Luca. Luca was up and walking. He was going through physical therapy in order to make it back to his team. And he recognized Hank’s eyes as being his shooter.

Luca thought that would be the last thing he ever saw in life. He was glad to be wrong. He just hated the guy because he later learned that the nerve that could connect his brain to his hand was kaput. Luca couldn’t be a cop if he couldn’t move his hand fast enough to grab his weapon.

His career was officially over now. The same might be said of Deacon as well. Deac wanted to retire because he thought the second phase of his life should be devoted to his family. His wife was working now. They can afford to live off of his pension now.

Deacon hasn’t told anyone on the team because he wasn’t sure it was the right time. They lost Street. They lost Luca. The team was full of new faces. Deac didn’t know if he should abandon the team at this time. Not when they needed him the most. He also didn’t want to put off retirement.

He came to the decision because his family was suffering. His marriage wasn’t doing too well either. Deac hasn’t told his family that he put it off and he hasn’t told his team he’s considering it. Hicks advised him to make a decision before his family gets mad at him and he loses his team’s trust.

The search for three men continued on. They managed to find Jerry. Jerry had been tortured and then murdered by his friends because he’s the one that hid the most expensive piece of jewelry. It was a necklace. It was worth millions because it was entirely created out of diamonds.

Well, Jerry hid it. He was killed for the information by the other two. He hid the necklace at his cousin’s hotel. He stayed at her hotel for free. He used the safe inside the hotel to hide the necklace. He confessed all of this under torture. He was then killed because they didn’t want to share.

SWAT went to the hotel. They found the men before they could kill the cousin. They were able to arrest the guys and the necklace was returned. The case was finally over.

It wasn’t for Luca because he was still disappointed about leaving SWAT. He was fifth generation. He grew up around cops. He doesn’t know what will come next after that. Still, he had a beautiful send off from the department when he retired.

Powell was also full of judgement tonight. She thought Alfaro being so familiar at a strip club was because he frequently visits them.

She apologized when she learned that his mom was a dancer and that he used to hang out in the back with the other strippers. And so they’re still getting to know each other at this point.

THE END!
