In tonight’s Sister Wives episode, Mykelti just had twins. She wanted to have a natural birth and was talked into a c-section. Her boys were breach. It was better for everyone that they were delivered via c-section because turning them would have been a battle. However, Mykelti was recovering from major surgery on top of taking care of twins.
Her mom and Robyn were both great help. Robyn even slept in the closet to be nearer to the boys. It was a big closet. Robyn didn’t mind. The only grumpy person was Mykelti’s toddler. Her name is Avalon. She was used to attention. And she cried in sadness when she realized both of her parents were busy with a baby.
Avalon was Christine’s only grandchild. She’s very much the star of the family. Or she used to be before the twins showed up and so Christine promised to shower her with extra attention.
The year the show was filmed was also Mykelti’s year to host Thanksgiving. Christine and Robyn wanted to support her as much as possible. It was a little awkward between them. They used to be sister wives. They aren’t anymore. Christine divorced Kody. Kody was still married to Robyn. They simply didn’t discuss it and chose to make Mykelti the priority.
Both women loved being a grandma so it helped them interact. One of the benefits of plural families was that the kids get bonus moms. Robyn has a great relationship with Mykelti and Christine was always very proud of it. She wanted that for all her kids. She never really had a problem with Robyn.
Her problems lied with Kody. Its why they’re divorced now. Its also why he divorced two other wives as well. He fails to communicate properly with his wives. For example, Kody wasn’t supposed to shower any one of them with attention in front of the family.
He was supposed to be fair. Only Kody would say out loud to Meri how he hates he couldn’t be affectionate with Robyn like he wanted to be. He was so done with their marriage that he was a kinda of a jerk to Meri.
He didn’t understand how saying that out loud was a violation in itself. He also failed to notice how it made Meri feel. He treated her like a third wheel. She didn’t want to feel like that anymore and so she skipped that year’s Thanksgiving. She did her own thing. It sadden Robyn that they no longer celebrated Thanksgiving with the whole family.
Kody had Thanksgiving with Robyn and her children. Janelle had Thanksgiving with her children. Also, with Paedon. Paedon was technically Christine’s son only he was the sole boy at that house.
He would often go over to Janelle’s house to spend time with his brothers. He did that when he was young and he treats Janelle like another mom. Janelle loves having him around. It just made sense that he would spend the holiday with her. Janelle did wonder where Meri was spending the holiday. She heard that Meri skipped the celebration at Robyn’s house and she was confused by that.
Meri hasn’t told the rest of the family about officially divorcing Kody. She went to her church. She wanted to get a religious divorce and she hasn’t told anyone about it. She doesn’t wish to announce it.
She was just moving on with her life. Neither Janelle nor Christine knew about the divorce. They weren’t in communication with Meri and Kody doesn’t talk to them anyways. Kody also wasn’t communicating with his adult children. Robyn brought that up after the holidays. She asked him why he wasn’t trying harder to be there for his kids and he didn’t have a good answer for her.
Kody hated that his kids sided with their moms after the many divorces. He didn’t see that they were coming from a hurt place. He basically told his wives that he didn’t like them or respect them. How were the kids supposed to take that? Kody seems to especially have it out for his daughter, Madison.
He claimed Madison gossips about him. He said he could never have a conversation with her because it always got around to the family. He hasn’t seen his granddaughter from her since she was first born. The little girl has no idea who he is and that’s because of him.
Kody sees what the kids did to him. He doesn’t see what he did to the kids. Robyn didn’t have a relationship with her biological father and there’s a trauma there because of it. She couldn’t understand why Kody wasn’t fighting for a relationship with his children. He just gave up. They went to a family wedding the other day.
Kody got offended that the kids wouldn’t talk to him. He doesn’t consistently reach out to them. He doesn’t go visit them. He doesn’t even facetime them. He just distances himself from them and Robyn was losing respect for him thanks to that.
Kody didn’t even go be with Ysabel when she had surgery. He failed to show up for her. Now, he’s confused about why she doesn’t call him or tell him about her life. Kody just sees it as the kids were upset he loves Robyn and not their moms. They were really upset that he seemed to love Robyn over them.
Christine and Janelle were living in Arizona. He rarely visited them. His sons tried to have a honest conversation with him. He shut them down. Kody stopped trying with his other kids and now they weren’t trying with him.
Kody at least saw where he went wrong. He knew missing Ysabel’s surgery was a mistake. He knew asking Janelle to kick out their boys was a mistake. He just didn’t know how to make up for those mistakes and he doesn’t want to try. He also doesn’t want to lose Robyn as well. Robyn asked him to pray to God to help him with his kids. He chose to pray to God for Robyn not to leave him.
And so the real issue here is Kody.
