In tonight’s Station 19 episode, Jack couldn’t return to work as an active firefighter. The doctor broke the news to him. He refused to believe her and so he got a second opinion.
He was told the same thing. Which wasn’t what he wanted to hear. He was told his career was over. He refused to accept that when it came from everyone else and he only accepted it when it came from Fire Chief Ross.
She couldn’t sign off on him returning to work after the brain damage he suffered on the job. Jack was done with the Seattle Fire Department. He could start over with a new profession. Ben had to do that a couple of times and he ended up alright.
Andy as the new captain still wanted to do something for Jack. They were going to have a dinner for him. They were going to do their best to make him feel better and to offer support.
She also had to assign tasks for vaccine day. Vic and Montgomery were out attending funerals. Funnily enough they were at different funerals. Vic was at an Irish funeral with their former captain, Sean Beckett. He needed support because he was fresh out of rehab and Irish funerals were usually booze fest in America.
Montgomery went to Dixon’s funeral. He had recently slept with Dixon’s. He cheated on his new boyfriend and so going to the funeral with the new boyfriend seemed like a bad idea.
Plus, with two firefighters out, Andy had to fill their spots. She got Kate. The same Kate that Theo cheated with. Theo had told Vic about it and she didn’t care because they were officially over. They’ve been over since he walked over her to achieve a promotion. A promotion he didn’t even get to keep because now Andy was captain.
Andy has to live with people second guessing her. The new people also forgot Jack’s system on Vaccine Day. He was still hanging around and so he told them that certain patients don’t have to give their name. They were some that were running from abusive exes.
Their file has to stay hidden. Jack usually puts their file in a black folder. He also couldn’t help anyone himself. He was no longer a firefighter or paramedic. He had to watch as patients came in and he couldn’t help them. It was unclear if he was even still there that day when they went into possible pandemic mode.
There was a woman that came in with a couple of kids. She was their nanny. She had gotten hit in the head by an object and it didn’t explain why her mouth was bleeding or the confusion and vomiting that followed. They close the doors to the firehouse. They had everyone still inside wear a mask. One of the volunteers thought it was Ebola. She spread panic amongst the rest of the group and Sullivan did his best to talk them down. They didn’t know what they were facing. It might not be Ebola.
Andy and Fire Chief Ross were on the phone with the CDC. They had the nanny in a closed off room with both Carina and Maya treating her. They did their best to keep the nanny as well as the kids she watches away from the other people. The nanny later undressed.
She has a spider web rash on her chest and torso. Her condition was mysterious because no one knew what it was. They were doing their best to treat her while Ben and Theo ran into some problems while doing Crisis One. They got called to a scene of a fight.
The fight was between mother and son. When they got there, the fight seemed over. The mother had dialysis recently and so Ben checked on her to see if she was alright. Her deadbeat son then started complaining. He demanded his mom to make him dinner.
She told him to do it himself. He said they didn’t have eggs because she was too stupid to do that. Theo tried to talk to him calmly. Except this guy had several guns. He shot off one of the guns as a warning for the neighbor because the neighbor’s dog kept barking.
Theo had to inform the cops. The cops came. They questioned mother and son. The son got a citation because this was a he said/he said. The son claimed that the dog tried to attack. He was standing his ground. The cops also let it be because the son was a white guy while the neighbor was Hispanic.
Both mother and son demanded that Crisis One leave. They left. They just didn’t return to the firehouse. The firehouse was safe by the way. They eventually learned that the nanny wasn’t contagious. The people were allowed to leave. And the nanny was transferred to the hospital.
Sullivan asked Ross to marry him and she said maybe. But Andy noticed that Jack’s gear was gone. She had Ben and Theo go check on Jack. She wanted to make sure he was coming to the dinner. They later tracked him down. They got him out on a gurney and they forced him to come back to the firehouse for a family meal. Carina and Maya almost missed it. They found out they were approved to foster the baby. They rushed to go pick him up. They later returned with him in their arms.
Vic and Montgomery both returned from their respective funerals. Beckett’s family were all drunks. They got into a fight and they refused to wait for an ambulance. So, he’s given up hope for them. He couldn’t stay sober by staying around them. And so Vic invited him to the family dinner.
Montgomery ended up sleeping with Emmett again and Emmett told him he’s cheating. He didn’t see that for himself. It had to be pointed out to him that he was cheating on his boyfriend. And now he feels guilty.
And tonight they had a family meal that ended with Jack adding his name to the table. Meanwhile the mother from the earlier call petitioned to have her son’s guns removed. She didn’t want him to go to prison only he was talking about killing the neighbor. He needed to be stopped.
THE END!
