In tonight’s Station 19 episode, it was a full moon out. Which wasn’t helped by their sub. Kate joined Station 19 as their sub. She was there to fill in for Jack and she openly stated she was hoping for a quiet night. She basically jinxed them when she said that.

The whole station now knows they have to prepare for the craziest night imaginable. Their new captain also has to deal with budget cuts. Andy was informed by Fire Chief Ross that they have to slash their budget by ten percent and they have to do it fast. The easiest option on that was layoffs.

Fire Chief Ross talked to Andy about layoffs. They have to save money where they can. Andy now has to do an audit. She was so on edge that she wasn’t rallying around the station. Not like she normally does. She was testy and she wouldn’t even let the firefighters relax or gossip.

They all found out about Theo making out with Kate mere minutes after his breakup with Vic. They wanted to talk about it. Montgomery wanted to come up with a revenge plan. He went to Vic to figure something out and she told him that she was over the situation.

Vic was choosing to be the bigger person. She can do that because Theo apologized plenty of times. He wanted to talk through their breakup. Vic told him that it was unnecessary because she really doesn’t care. She stopped caring when she broke up with him. She wasn’t even mad at Kate.

She was more worried about the audit and what it could mean. Vic suspected that budget cuts were coming soon. She also knew what it meant. She doesn’t want the late Dean Miller’s CrisisOne program to get cut while the city tries to save money. And she wanted to discuss that with Andy.

Andy refused to hear her out. She told Vic what she told everyone else. They should focus on the audit. Andy didn’t want to hear anything else until they got called out to a scene of a mass casualty event.

They saw so many dead and Fire Chief Ross couldn’t even send another station to help. She had already close down the nearby station. They were just bogged down by death. Andy started scheduling counseling sessions with everyone just so that they could have a safe space after that day.

Andy was there when a deal was made between the new mayor and the Fire Chief. They shook hands. They made a deal not to cut the fire department’s budget. What happened to that? Andy tried going to Sullivan for answers. He couldn’t help her because Ross didn’t tell him anything.

Sullivan keeps business and personal life separate since their relationship was outed. Andy then tried going to Fire Chief Ross. Ross was working out of Station 19 until her office was fixed. Andy tried to talk to her about her deal with the mayor and Ross would only say he’s a politician.

He gets to walk back a deal now that he’s in power. Andy got upset. She wondered why Ross wasn’t upset as well. She accused Ross of accepting this new deal in exchange for keeping her job. Ross kicked her out of her office. Andy returned to find the firefighters were getting into a fight. They had misplaced the jaws of life. It was a very expensive piece of equipment. They couldn’t afford to get called to a scene without one and unfortunately that’s what happened. They got called to a scene. It was all hands on deck except for Vic.

Vic was dead inside. She’s been that way since the breakup. She decided to not care about anything or anyone other than herself and it left her feeling dead inside.

Vic was so dead that she didn’t even notice that Andy confirmed their fears. Andy said they’ll be layoffs. Especially, now that they don’t have the jaws of life. They were a station with too many lieutenants. Their lieutenants were all former captains. There was Maya, Theo, Sullivan, and now Beckett. They have too many and so one of them needs to get cut or choose retirement.

They all got called to the scene of a fire at a restaurant. It was just a father and son there. The son had made it out. The father was trapped inside. Once he heard about him father being trapped, the son also tried to rush in there and create more problems for the firefighters.

Andy also saw Ben had lied about his back. He had injured his back. He said he was cleared by the doctor and everything was fine. She saw for herself that he was struggling to strap on an oxygen tank to his back. They had to pull out because they couldn’t save the father with the equipment that they do have.

Ross sent another station to come save the day. They were forced to return to the station where Vic realized that they left her. Vic’s new dead inside thing had left her crying herself to sleep. Its why she didn’t hear the sirens go off. She now finds herself in trouble.

She just doesn’t have to worry about her job. Theo later offered to resign. He couldn’t deal with another day like they had. He was thinking of going into the privatized fire departments. He got the idea from Kate. Theo thinks he can rise high in such a company.

And so Andy did find a way to slash the budget. Ben was going to be out until his back healed. Vic was going to be in counseling to stop her from crying herself to sleep. Montgomery also finally told someone that he cheated on Eli and that’s why they’re broken up.

But Maya wasn’t there that day. She was home babyproofing the house for her foster son. They hope to adopt him one day because they already love him.

THE END!
