In tonight’s Station 19 episode, there’s a wildfire coming dangerously close to Seattle. The firefighters were keeping an eye on it. Maya told Carina to be safe going to work. Carina was going to be based a mile away from the fire. She was voluntarily treating the victims of the fire. Maya also said that because she and Carina were trying for a baby.
They implanted fertilized embryos using Maya’s eggs into Carina. Carina was so nervous that she was constantly doing pregnancy tests. She might have did the last one a little too early.
That test was negative. Carina thought that was it. She felt that she wasn’t pregnant. It was Maya that chose to be hopeful. She reminded her wife that the test was done too early.
She didn’t want her possible pregnant wife near a wildfire and the fire got so bad that even Station 19 was called in. They were called to the fire an hour after Maya had that conversation with her wife. The firefighters that were originally in charge had wanted to play it safe. He didn’t want to risk bringing the full armada if they overestimated the fire.
It was Fire Chief Ross that said they couldn’t take risks with the city. She called for extra firefighters. Andy got called in and she brought her full team with her.
It was the last opportunity they would get to work with Vic. Vic was moving. She was taking CrisisOne national. She got the funding from a foundation to do it. She could run the program from the East Coast and that’s good because that’s where the new job is based. Vic needed to grow. She needed to continue helping people by spreading Dean Miller’s program.
Montgomery was of course upset when he learned about her new job. He made her promotion all about him. How will he survive without her? He said he hurts the plants and that Vic was the only one keeping them alive. Vic then said that’s a lie. She buys new plants every few weeks because Montgomery really did kill them.
Vic also called him out for making her promotion about him. They were best friends. He should be supporting her as she finally transitions into a dream job. She wasn’t like Montgomery that remains stuck because he wanted to be in the same position when he lost his husband.
Montgomery asked what she meant by that. She said she meant what she said. Montgomery doesn’t apply for promotion in the ranks. He ran away from the mayoral race. He couldn’t seem to stick out a relationship.
He always has to sabotage it. Montgomery was stuck in this weird place that he never wants to leave. He finally had to think about that. His own father left someone he didn’t love only to find love with his new partner. One he’s committed to. Maybe Montgomery needed a hard talk with someone before he could get to that place again.
Montgomery needed someone to talk to. He sought out Dominic. Dominic and Theo work for the privatized fire department and so they were ordered to save an expensive building.
They didn’t treat patients or share their assets with the real firefighters. Only Theo helped out whenever he could. He left his job with Seattle Fire because he wanted to help Andy with a budget problem. It wasn’t because he hated the job or wanted to stop helping people. Meaning Andy doesn’t get to guilt trip for still wanting to help people.
Theo gave them water. It helped put out the little fires caused by the wind. The same wind that was coming up from the wildfire. It was getting bad out there and so Fire Chief Ross got additional firefighters.
She called up all the retired firefighters. The one forced to retire to save the budget. She called them all in and they came. It was all hands on deck. They had to sleep out near the fire. They had to keep an eye on it. They had to sleep in cramped conditions. When they awoke the next morning, they saw the fire spread. It was now nearer than before.
The firefighters were all putting out small fires. Theo saw one of his friends was about to be crushed by a large falling tree branch and so he pushed them out of the way. It ended up falling on Theo.
The firefighters had to rescue him. They removed the branches, but it broke a few things when it landed on him. Theo had to be medevac out of there. He tried to tell Vic something before he was loaded onto the chopper. She told him that he didn’t have to say anything. He’s going to get better and they can talk once he’s on his feet again.
Carina meanwhile did another pregnancy test. It showed her that she was pregnant. She’s finally pregnant after trying for a baby the last couple of years. She wanted to reach out to Maya.
Tell Maya the good news. Maya wasn’t going to get it. Maya and Andy had gone looking for an injured Marine. He was blowing on a whistle in the hope that someone will hear it. The ladies followed the sound until the fire began to spread. It cut Maya off the rest of the world. She can’t get out of that fire circle. And Andy can’t go in to save her.
And so they might lose Maya.
THE END!
