In tonight’s Station 19 series finale recap, Maya was cut off from her team. She was surrounded by fire. She came to believe she would die and so she envisioned her life. What it would have been like. She thought of being there when her wife went into labor. She thought about carrying their third child so that she too could experience birth.

She thought of what an amazing life she was missing out on and it turns out she was being pessimistic. There was a helicopter that flew in overhead. He dumped a bunch of water on the area. It saved Maya’s life. She could go on to have the life she envisioned and she didn’t have to worry about death.

Not now anyways. She had her team. They were cut off from the rest of the firefighters. The communication system was down and to make matters worse there was a fire tornado at play.

None of them had ever seen a real fire tornado before. It was actually Montgomery that spotted it first. He was over by the resort area with Dominic and Kate. They saw the fire tornado. They tried to warn Kate. She couldn’t hear them because of the chaos. She got hit directly by the fire tornado. She was killed instantly.

It was so scary. The team didn’t like her for her arrogance. There was also some blame that she broke up Theo and Vic. Only no one wanted her dead. They also had no means of combating the fire tornado.

It tore through their water line. They couldn’t douse it. They couldn’t run from it. The most they could do was covering themselves with fireproof sheeting. They had to wait for the fires to die down. They were in the witching hour. It was the worst time for fires because they the winds were high at the time of day.

They were all out in the open under those sheets. Montgomery was with Dominic. They called that their first date and he considered what a life would like with him. He realized it was good.

Vic also envisioned the future. Except hers was impossible. She saw Dean Miller standing at her side. She should know that he passed and that her dream was unattainable. The fire tornado eventually passed. They checked on everyone and they couldn’t find Andy. Andy was with them when they all covered themselves. She just wasn’t anywhere near them when they came out.

Ben wasn’t with his team nor could help them look for Andy. He had taken Theo to the hospital. He was coming back when he heard that two got caught out in the fire and that one of them was pregnant. Ben brought Carina with him. They delivered that baby at the side of the road.

The new father was badly burnt. It was a risk going out there for Carina because she was pregnant. She was in the early stages of pregnancy and so she shouldn’t be stressing herself out at this. And neither should the team.

Andy left to bring other firefighters to her position. She also built up a strong armada. The firefighters were containing the fire and that was all thanks to Andy.

Andy passed out after a wall. She walked through burning trees. She might have breathed in too much of that stuff. She was rushed to the hospital. Her friends went with her. They left the fires to the other teams. They had to be with their captain. It was another fire that took their first captain. The one that made them all proud and no one wanted to go through such a loss again.

Ben and Carina ran into the rest of Station 19’s family at the hospital. Carina used her time with Maya to finally say she was pregnant. They were both so happy, but Andy was in critical condition. She inhaled a lot of smoke. She was under for a while. While she was sleeping, she didn’t picture her life in the future.

She instead looked back when she was the happiest. It was with Jack. She later woke up in the hospital. She was smiling now that she knows where she went wrong. She should never have given up Jack because of work. And now that was no longer in their way.

Three months later…

Seattle was recovering from the fires. Station 19 threw a goodbye party for Vic. Theo showed up. He was recovering very nicely and Andy offered him another job at the station.

She said he was a great firefighter. Andy also needed to fill her team because she was losing two people. She was losing Vic. She was also losing Ben. Ben was going to return to his surgical residency. He was a doctor. He has three kids. He didn’t want his family worrying about him every time he goes out to combat a fire. Him being a doctor was a safer option.

Ben promised Miller that he would raise Pru right. He couldn’t do that if he died. He envisioned his life and it was looking good with his three kids and beautiful wife.

And Montgomery surprised everyone when he also chose to leave with Vic. They were best friends. His life was wherever she was. He also didn’t want her building a new life without him and so he left with her.

Maya became Captain of Station 19 again. Andy became the new Fire Chief. They both got to achieve their dreams. And all it took was a few years.

THE END!
