Steve Kent OUT at Sony Pictures TV – Exec Reported Done Overseeing Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless

Steve Kent OUT at Sony Pictures TV Exec Done Overseeing Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless

There’s some big news that’s shocking the soap world and creating plenty of chatter on social media. According to SOD, Steve Kent is reportedly OUT at Sony Pictures TV, so it looks like this exec is done overseeing Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless.

Kent’s official title was Senior Executive Vice President of Programming, but it seems he’s no longer employed by Sony Pictures TV based on some insider reports. Multiple set-side sources have indicated that Sony and Kent have cut ties.

These updates come on the heels of Steve Kent attending Days’ 15,000th episode party on April 11.

Although Kent gave a speech at the event, those reports we mentioned insist that his final day with Sony Pictures TV was April 12.

Sony hasn’t confirmed the departure officially just yet, but all signs point to Kent indeed being out.

Of course, plenty of Days and Y&R fans have questions about what might’ve led to Kent’s exit.

Albert Alarr was fired as a co-executive producer and director at DOOL back in August 2023, so that’s something to keep in mind.

Alarr was given the boot following serious misconduct allegations and claims that he was the reason for a toxic workplace environment.

The whole thing turned into a massive PR nightmare for Days, particularly once Arianne Zucker (Nicole DiMera) filed a lawsuit in the aftermath and complained publicly.

Zucker feels she was essentially forced off the show for leading the charge against Alarr, so she’s definitely made some waves with her accusations.

We should also note that Days didn’t have an HR department, so Zucker revealed in a press conference that she went to Sony’s HR department to voice concerns about Alarr.

Since all the drama at DOOL blew back on Sony, it’s reasonable to think that might’ve played a role in Steve Kent getting fired – especially if he stood in the way of the Alarr issue being addressed earlier.

Whatever the case, Kent’s apparent departure could pave the way for more shakeups, so we’ll keep you posted on everything happening at Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless.
