In tonight’s The Amazing Race episode, show they’ve survived the Mega Leg. The next stop was the capital of Uruguay, Montevideo. They all booked their flights as well as their hotels through Expedia. They also chose to sever the alliance. There were three teams working together and they did that because they wouldn’t have survived the Mega Leg on their own.
Things were different tonight. They were back to playing their individual game. Amber and Vinny were still arguing. Amber sometimes speaks to Vinny like he’s supposed to read her mind sometimes. They needed to work on their communication and their navigation because they quickly got lost.
Ricky and Cesar were the first to the first clue. They learned they had to go to a workshop. They were going to be welding. Cesar’s father happened to work in that field and he’s been around the tools enough that he believed he could do it too.
Shane and Juan had were second to the welding. Shane was the welder for his team. He’s never done this before. He was just going to try his best. Cesar has done this before and all he has to do is weld two pieces together that would be stronger to survive a literal hammer.
Cesar knows how to weld. He just doesn’t know how to make it survive a sledgehammer. His first attempt was a bust. The same goes for Shane. The other teams caught up to them. Vince did an actual metal course in college.
He also has to do well because Amber’s father was a welder. If he gets this right, he makes his potential father-in-law proud. Rod and Leticia also chose welding. They had no experience whatsoever. Rod chose it because he thought he could do it. He was proven right because he was the second one to get it.
The first to get it was Vinny. Their former allies were in fifth place. Danny and Angie needed to make up ground. They could only do that at the workshop. Cesar and Shane kept failing.
Cesar literally was letting his family down by not getting this right. For example, why was Vinny the first to realize that it was all about the placement of the screws? Rod has never welded anything together much less used the tool and he figured it out before Cesar! Cesar at least was the third to get it right. He was followed by Shane.
Danny’s navigational skills came in handy. He got to the workshop before Yvonne and Melissa. They also got there before Sunny and Bizzy. Danny just didn’t know how to weld. He took engineering courses.
They weren’t enough for tonight. The bottom three were racing to finish. The firefighting moms have done this before because they have to in their line of work. Only they didn’t get it before Danny did. Danny got it and he raced back to the car with his mom to get to the second location. The second challenge was about performance.
The clue said they had to choose to perform with a crowd. They either play drums or sing. They do well enough at that then they get the next clue. Everyone got lost on their way to the plaza.
Danny managed to get ahead of several teams. He was that good at navigation. Amber and Vinny were so busy arguing that they kept getting lost. Vinny sometimes tunes Amber out. She gets angry with him when he does that. She started lashing out in anger and Vinny gets frustrated when she does that. Their relationship was barely surviving the show.
They chose drums. They were so out of tune with each other that they weren’t impressing anyone. Most people chose drums because they thought it was easier. Cesar and Ricky were the first to choose singing. Cesar took on most of the lyrics because he knows Spanish. Ricky was also a good singer.
They played to their strengths. They even loved the outfits they got to wear. They just forgot about dancing. They were told to add that after their first try. They forgot the lyrics on their second try. They took a couple of minutes relearning the lyrics before their third try.
Juan wasn’t feeling well. He and Shane chose drums. The sound alone from the drums was giving him a headache and so he needed a break. Vinny managed to get the drumming down. Amber not so much. She felt like a failure. She felt like Vinny was setting her up to fail and she said their relationship was constantly giving her that feeling.
All the while Danny and Angie finished the drums. Ricky and Cesar finished their performance. It was a race to see who came in first place. The boyfriends have come in first three times. The mother and son have been in the middle and they want to rise to the top.
They merely didn’t beat Ricky and Cesar tonight. The boyfriends came in first. Danny and Angie came in second. Vinny and Amber were the second to finish drums and all they have left was to find the final stop in Montevideo. They got confused about where they parked the car.
One thought it was down a few streets and the other thought it was closer to the plaza where they played drums. Vinny was right about where they parked. He told Amber that she doesn’t listen to him. They also didn’t figure out the navigation before they got into the car and that led to them driving in circles.
Rod and Leticia came in third. Amber and Vinny were in fourth place. It was a race to finish with the remaining three teams. Yvonne and Melissa came in fifth. Shane and Juan came in sixth. And that meant Bizzy and Sunny were eliminated tonight because they kept getting lost.
THE END!
