In tonight’s The Bachelorette episode, Aaron left. He voluntarily left last week to pursue a career dream of his. However, he dropped a bomb on Jenn right before he left. He told her that not everyone was there for the right reasons.
Jenn was looking for love and so learning she might be getting used didn’t go down well. It brought out her suspicious side. It also made her second-guess everyone. This included people she’s already built a bond with. And then as if she wasn’t rattled enough, someone from her past came back to haunt her tonight.
Jenn and the guys traveled to Auckland. It’s in New Zealand. It was the neighbor to Australia. They got to enjoy the new atmosphere. They got to celebrate with some drinks and a luxurious lunch.
Did you know that Jenn has never eaten on her one on one dates? Jesse Palmer brought it up because he thinks he’s the reason why that’s no longer a thing. He was scarfing down food on his season. It was hard to be romantic when someone chowing down on food. Jenn also didn’t think eating was romantic because they’d barely get a chance to talk.
For her latest one on one, she invited Sam M. to have lunch with her. She’s had a strong attraction to Sam M from the beginning. He got the first impression rose. He also got the first kiss from Jenn.
They have strong attraction for each other. Its why they were always making out when they were left alone. Jenn was warned at least once about picking someone merely because of attraction. She needed to build a strong foundation with the guys. She invited Sam M on the one on one because she wanted to get to know him.
Sam M was confident. He was nice to her. Only it does have a reputation in the house. Devin for one thought Sam M was a jerk. He’s called out Sam M over problematic behavior.
He just couldn’t build a case when he himself has done some shady crap. Sam M didn’t need anyone to bury him. He did that himself. He went to the tallest building with Jenn. They were told they could jump off the top. Sam M nominated them for the task. He didn’t check with Jenn. He would have found out that she’s deathly afraid of heights if he had.
Sam M kept pushing the matter. Jenn ultimately agreed to walk on the ledge with him. She was so freaked out that she didn’t want to do it and it sucks that Sam kept pushing her to jump.
He wasn’t reading her emotions. He wasn’t checking on her. He wasn’t being supportive. He was just being flirty and she didn’t want that when she was envisioning her own death. She wanted him to be serious or at least attentive. He wasn’t either. Sam lacked the emotional depth that Jenn was looking for and their date proved that.
Sam came around to comforting Jenn. He didn’t mind that she was ugly crying. He just held her. He did more in that minute that in their entire history and that’s what convinced Jenn to jump.
Jenn jumped. She safely landed. She was super proud of herself for doing that. She even kissed Sam M afterwards. She was never going to repeat the jump only she was still unclear about Sam M. Did he encourage her or was she getting in the way of an adrenaline junkie? Jenn wasn’t sure. Its why she used the rest of their date to talk.
Jenn’s parents are divorced. It ended badly. She had to watch the fallout. It led to her struggling with her relationships because she keeps putting everyone on a pedestal. They naturally fell. They also took her with them on the fall. Sam M understood that. He was engaged once before. He envisioned his whole life with this woman.
Then they got engaged. The relationship quickly deteriorated right after that. Sam’s fiancée was apparently hiding the fact that she had feelings for someone else. She then told Sam that she was leaving him for this other person because she couldn’t resist those feelings anymore.
Sam M therefore knows that he can be easily replaced. Its why he doesn’t open up about his feelings. He’s afraid of getting hurt again and Jenn understands him. She too was worried about getting hurt again.
Its why she was trying to get to know all of the guys. She wanted to be sure about every decision she makes. She invited a large group of guys for the group date. She excluded only Devin. Which he took as a reason to be happy because it meant she was considering him for a solo date. And he didn’t mind skipping on the group activity.
Jenn took the group date to the rugby stadium. They learned rugby. The guys got to play a game. Sam N. was very excited about it. He used whatever time he had to flirt with Jenn. It upset some of the other guys.
at the hotel, Sam M got into an argument with Devin. Devin made some smart remarks about Sam M right before his date with Jenn. Sam M confronted Devin about that. He said he doesn’t talk about him. Devin needed to keep Sam M’s name out of his mouth. The guys got into a bro off. They kept calling each other bro and claiming that they don’t respect each other or talk about the other.
All lies of course. Sam M takes whatever moments he can find to laugh at Devin. Devin takes whatever moments he can find to mock Sam M. It was all pretty juvenile. It was probably for the best that they weren’t at rugby. It was a contact sport after all. Sam N managed to alienate quite a few people at the game.
He was holding the champion cup. He was marching in front of everyone. He put the trophy down on the sofa and so Marcus couldn’t sit there. Marcus had to ask him to check himself. Sam N didn’t take the warning. He was super proud of himself to the point of bragging.
Sam N got a special rugby shirt that said Sam’s wife on it. He gave it to Jenn. He had moved the trophy off the chair so that Jenn could sit by him and that led to him being the first to talk to her.
That part really grated on the guys. They called Sam N arrogant. The guys started talking amongst themselves. They felt Sam N wasn’t ready for a serious relationship. He’s never dated before. He was the first to throw out the word love to Jenn. He was either super depressed or cocky and so the guys tried to talk to him about finding a medium. Somewhere between doubting himself and confidence.
Sam N did not take that advice well. He said he was all about Jenn. The guys tried to remind him that Jenn wasn’t there when he marched in front of them or refuse to move a giant trophy because someone wanted to sit. Sam N refused to listen to their criticism. He wanted that group date rose really badly.
When Thomas N pulled him aside, Sam N told him that he shouldn’t be the priority. Thomas should have been talking to Jenn and not to Sam N. Sam N told Thomas to go back to focusing on Jenn.
Thomas tried to do that. He was talking to Jenn when Sam N interrupted them. Sam N wanted alone time with Jenn because he wanted to ask for their first kiss.
Sam N has never kissed anyone before. He wanted Jenn to be the first. She gently turned him down. She also sent him home after that. Jenn didn’t envision a future with Sam N and he felt like the biggest fool for thinking they had something. He was embarrassed about the way he acted because it didn’t get him closer to the girl of his dreams. Sam N left. Jenn then went on to give the group date rose to Marcus.
Marcus seemed like a nice guy. He was a good match for Jenn. Also, he wasn’t as controversial as say Sam M or Devin. Jenn later went on the one on one date with Devin.
They went to a cultural center to learn about the Māori culture. Devin got to talk about his own family history. He moved around a lot as a kid. He finally found a home in Texas. They don’t have mountains there only Devin considered his mom his mountain. Jenn did the same with her own mom. She used to live in a small town and as the daughter of immigrants it was hard to be accepted into that community.
Jenn learned to walk a fine line. Devin understands that because his father was Mexican. He knows what it was like to live between two cultures and so they bonded on this date.
Later, Devin revealed more about himself. His parents were never “together”. It was a fling that resulted in a pregnancy. His mom had to drop out of college to have him. She also suddenly had to figure out custody with a near stranger. His mom held down two jobs to support Devin and he wasn’t a good kid. He told Jenn that he was trouble when he was younger.
Devin regrets that now because he realized how much he loves his mom. He was sorry for hurting her. Jenn sorta had an opposite relationship with her dad. She has a few good memories of him. Only that ended when he split with her mom. He completely checked out of the situation. He refused to have a relationship with Jenn and she had to learn to let him go. She couldn’t force him to be around if he didn’t want to be. And opening up to Devin about it had brought them closer together.
Jenn was considering her future when someone from her past flew himself out to New Zealand. He did so at his own cost. He didn’t forewarn Jenn nor did the producers warn Jenn. She was left blindsided by Matthew. Matt dated Jenn three years ago. They were together for about three to four months. They agreed to be friends at the end of the relationship and so him having changed his mind was only happening now that she has her own season on “the Bachelorette”. And him not wanting to lose her to someone else.
Matt it seems wanted another chance to date Jenn and he was willing to join the cast this season.
