In tonight’s The Equalizer episode, Detective Dante asked Robyn out for drinks. They were friends. They’ve hung out before. This time felt different though because now they both know he has feelings for her and she might return those feelings. She wasn’t sure. She didn’t want to go there because she knew she was a commitment person.
He was as well. If they were to get involved in that sense, they could find themselves rushing into things too soon. Robyn was therefore downplaying the drinks. She told her Aunt Vi that it was nothing. Her aunt wasn’t stupid and so she knew it was something. She was even teasing Robyn about it when Dante called her for a favor.
Dante’s old partner was in trouble. Vice Detective Rose Garcia was undercover at a private casino. She believed that casino was a front for other crimes and she was sent there to keep an eye on it.
She was supposed to be a waitress. She was doing really well until she went to the bathroom one too many times and it was searched because they were suspicious of her. They found her hidden cell phone. They took Rose hostage. She hasn’t been since nor has been in contact. Her squad also wasn’t rushing in to save her life.
The feds were apparently looking into that casino. They wanted the man that owns it. His name is Charles Benson. He was big in the Blanco Syndicate and the feds were making a case against the whole organization. They weren’t going to risk their case for one cop. They were willing to let Rose die if it meant they didn’t blow their own investigation.
With the feds in charge, the local police couldn’t step in. Their hands were tied by the feds. The feds hold all the power. Dante was the only one advocating for Rose because that was his first partner on the job. He refuses to leave her in danger.
Robyn agreed to help him. She thought they needed someone to get close to Charles. She figured out the best person to help with that was JJ Cranson. He used to work with Charles. JJ got busted.
He went away for eight years and he had six months left on his sentence. He didn’t want to help the cops. He wasn’t into snitching. He had an opportunity to rat out Charles years ago.
He never took it. He took the rap for the both of them. There was a third partner. She got injured. JJ stayed behind to try and help her and that’s how he got caught.
Sylvia died. Charles went on to join up with the Blancos. JJ hasn’t heard from him in years. He just wanted to do his time and to get out in six months. Robyn played on his emotions about Sylvia. She claimed that he could finally get justice for her by finding another woman in trouble. However, it was all for nothing. JJ agreed to help.
He was released. He hooked back up with Charles wearing a camera. He found out that Charles was throwing a meeting with a lot of heavy hitters in the arms dealing and bomb making department. And he had already killed Rose.
JJ later witnessed Rose’s body being moved. She was already gone. JJ couldn’t help her and he did them a favor by wearing a camera into Charles’s private room.
They now have all the evidence they need to take Charles down. JJ was going to be returned to prison when he made an unusual request. He asked to see his grandmother before going back. He said he hasn’t seen his grandmother in years. She was reportedly unwell. He wanted to check up on her and of course that turned out to be a lie. JJ had stashed the money from his last job at her house.
He planned on sneaking off with the money when one of Charles’s men found him. Frankie was suspicious of JJ showing up out of the blue. He thought he must have snitched and so he followed him to that house.
He saw JJ getting away with money he withheld from Charles. Money he claimed the cops stole from him. Frankie realized that JJ planned to cut Charles out. He was going to kill JJ and that’s when Mel came in saving the day. She knocked out Frankie. They were simply going to hand him over to the place when Harry called.
Harry studied that video of Rose’s body. He noticed that her finger was still moving on its own. She wasn’t dead after all. She was severely drugged. She was also going to be used in a demonstration. She talked to her squad about Charles throwing a demonstration prior to her disappearance.
Mel had searched Frankie’s things and she found the antidote for a nerve agent. She realized that Charles was going to sell a nerve agent to the highest bidder. He had heavy hitters from all around the world coming in to see this demonstration. And so Rose might not be dead, but she was going to die if they didn’t get to her in time.
JJ went to that party that Charles was throwing for his demonstration. He got Robyn inside. They let in Mel. The building was searched and they were too late because Rose had been moved.
She was probably taken to a lab. There was ten minutes till the demonstration. Harry didn’t have time to search all the labs and so Robyn bought him time. Robyn delayed Charles. She tricked him into playing for the nerve agent. She didn’t win her hand only her ploy did work. It bought Harry enough time to get a location on where Rose was being held.
Harry gave the information to Dante. Dante was on his way when the demonstration went ahead. Robyn knocked out some of Charles’s men and fought her way to Charles. She stopped him from killing JJ. JJ just couldn’t help letting Charles know it was him. Sure, he was out now. He simply has to stay on the road.
He planned on moving to Vermont to be with his woman he met online. The woman was fake and so was her story. He had been catfished. Or so he thought until he met the real woman behind the account. Her name is Janine. She used a fake name because he was a con man.
She had to protect herself. Only now he’s out. He was given reward money for Charles’s capture. They really could start over in Vermont together. Rose meanwhile was at a hospital being treated and she too will survive. And so Robyn came through for Dante.
Aunt Vi also came through for Delilah. Delilah had joined the Student Council as Peer Ear. She found out that some girls had made an account just to make fun of her for it and she skipped class so that they wouldn’t see her cry. Aunt Vi found her. She convinced her to be strong. Dee returned to school and she went on to help people as a peer counselor. She also kept reading the comments. And they weren’t all bad.
