Shaun and Lea’s new baby Steve was a little underweight. He wasn’t where he needed to be. He feeds regularly and Lea pumps breast milk when she wasn’t feeding the baby herself. However, their pediatrician thought they should start using formula. Lea was against it at first. She had heard that the breast was best. She even took offence that formula was given to them by the doctor. Lea was starting to feel like a failure and Shaun couldn’t see it because he was happier about taking over night feeding duties. And so Shaun’s love affair with their little boy might get tested when he’s up with the baby at nighttime.
Regardless of his new home life, Shaun was still a delight at work. His hospital was now a teaching hospital and no one was happier about that than Dr. Charlene Lukaitis. She goes by Charlie. She was also on the spectrum. She wanted to become a surgeon like Shaun was. She had seen a video of him in action and she realized that she wants to be just like him. She just has to work on her bedside manner. Shaun had asked her if she could do dressing to cover the injury for a patient. Charlie said she could do it and then she had to watch a how to video on YouTube before she could do it right on the patient.
If you don’t know something, don’t say you do. She missed out on a great learning exercise with the other doctor in the room guiding the way. She also ticked off the patient’s daughter. Then again a lot ticked off the daughter. She was upset to learn that her father would need a new pair of lungs. It wasn’t pneumonia like they thought. She was upset to hear her dad say he didn’t need full-time care. She said she would take care of her dad. Her dad didn’t want to hear that. He didn’t want to burden his daughter while she was trying to climb the corporate ladder.
Only Charlie spotted the daughter in the parking garage. She was down in her lingerie making videos. The daughter wasn’t working a nine to five. She was an Only Fans Girl. She makes a lot of money. Her time is flexible. She can easily help her dad and stay making videos. She just couldn’t stop Charlie from making comments. Charlie asked where she was going to work if her office was going to be used by her dad when he moves in. The dad thought that was an odd question. He thought the way that Charlie said it was odd too.
Charlie then made a quip about too many daddies. She had overheard the daughter calling her clients daddy and so that’s what came to mind, but now the patient was demanding answers. He wanted to know what Charlie kept insinuating. Charlie was going to reveal all if the daughter can’t find a way to shut her up. The attendees decided to switch around interns. Jared will take Dr. Dominick Hubank. Asher would take Charlie. It turns out Dominick was no picnic either. He fainted at the sight of blood. He later claimed he didn’t have breakfast that morning, but that changes nothing.
The daughter did come to clean to her dad. He wanted her to stop working as a cam girl. He was refusing to talk to her until she drops the job and so Shaun stepped in. Shaun has been a parent for three weeks. He said that there was nothing in the world to stop him from being in his son’s life. The patient’s daughter was kind and caring. She wanted to take care of her dad. She wanted to be there for him. She can even afford to be there for him. She was making a lot of money and he couldn’t return to his old job of cutting up counter tops. It was his job that made him sick. Made him need new lungs.
Her job however was hurting no one. It helped feed her and clothe her. It wasn’t so bad. The dad eventually saw that for himself. He could lose his daughter for nothing. The other intern Dominck has been working on a different patient. His patient has a tumor in a very delicate spot. It was a risk to remove it. So, Dr. Alex Park told the patient he wasn’t going to do the surgery until he made it worthwhile. The guy had to beg for his life. It worked in the sense that now he has something to live for.
Shaun also tried to help Charlie sit in for her first surgery. Only she contaminated it. She touched her earring. She then touched the bed sheets with the same hand that touched the earrings. Shaun had to boot her out of there. It sucked for Charlie. It was great for Dominick. She showed him how not to faint at the sight of blood. He got to witness his first surgery and that was a doozy. All anyone could talk about was the upcoming party they were all invited to. Aaron was going. And so Shaun didn’t want to go if Aaron was going.
Aaron tried to talk to Shaun about it. Shaun still couldn’t move past Aaron not showing up to see baby Steve at the hospital. Then the hospital threw a surprise party for Aaron. Aaron suffered through it. But Charlie stopped idolizing Shaun once she saw his autism flare up. She had tried to reorganize the supply closet and he snapped at her. He told her to fix it. To put it back where it was. He cracked her confidence. Charlie turned to Dominick and he lifted her spirits with a Taylor Swift song.
And Shaun changed his mind about going to Morgan’s party. He showed up with Lea and the baby. Lea got to have her first drink in months and so that was a highlight of using formula. Plus, Aaron got to apologize to baby Steve that it took so long to meet him.
