In tonight’s The Masked Singer episode, the theme tonight was “Wizard of Oz”. Its most famous song was performed tonight by Season Four Winner, LeAnne Rimes. Her rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” was truly beautiful.

It helped kick off a night of memorable performances and up first was the Gumball. He was inspired by the Tin Man. He had moves. He was also on the shorter side.

His clue package showed that success came to him very slowly. He once got booed after winning a competition. He tried being in a band. He did everything possible to get onstage and nothing seemed to work for a very long time.

There was a spider in his clue package. There was a horse drawn chariot. There was even a heart sign of American South.

The Gumball could be anyone. His singing was superb. He performed a mix of “If I Only Had A Brain” and “Heartbeat Song”. It was a great performance. Only the judges had no idea who he was. Rita thought he could be Chase Crawford because his final clue said that he has a heart of a superhero. Chase played a superhero on “The Boys”.

Robin chose to focus on the band angle. He thought maybe the Gumball was Kevin Jonas. He’s the only brother that didn’t seek a solo career. He was also very talented in his own right. And Ken veered so far left when he chose Jamie Dornan because Jamie was tall as well as Irish.

Next up was Miss Cleopatra. She was inspired by the Good Witch of the “Wizard Of Oz”. She never knew if she was a good witch of bad witch until it finally dawned on her to use her power for good.

She admitted that people have called her a National Treasure. Her clue package had rain. There was a vacay sign. She said that her moment of success was followed by depression.

Her voice was also rather unique. She performed “Stormy Weather” by Etta James. She had a jazz vibe. And her final clue was that she worked her magic on an Emmy award winning show.

Ken thought she was Taraj P. Henson. Jenny thought she was Sheryle Lee Ralph. Robin thought she was Loretta Devine. They all thought they were choosing diva level performers to match the talent of Miss Cleopatra.

They just couldn’t be sure about which diva was under the mask. Next up was the Afghan Hound. She was inspired by the Cowardly Lion. She had needed all her courage tonight. She was not a singer. She was on a tv show with people she counts as family. Then one day that ended and she felt scared by the shifting world.

There was a field of poppies in her clue package that could literally mean anything. There was a clothesline. She talked about getting back on her feet and getting her own house.

Again, her performance showed she wasn’t a singer. She performed “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”. It was more fun than sung. Her final clue was the lion badge of courage. She said it took courage being on a tv show with the characters of her family. Rita thought she was Sistine Stallone. The Stallones just got their own show and everything.

Ken thought The Afghan Hound could be Olivia Jade. He thought the house clue could be a signature for her mom’s tv show of “Full House”. Jenny thought she could be Brooke Hogan. That one seemed to upset the Afghan Hound. She waved Jenny off. Next up was the Beets. The Beets were a two person act.

They were inspired by Dorothy and her trusted friend, Toto. Home for them was whenever they were together. The world tried to pit them against each other, but they never fell for it. They were such good friends that they were family.

They’ve even been on the radio. They achieved success thanks to their friendship. They were now performing together and they sounded so amazing that they just had to be performers. They performed “Home” by Michael Bublé. They put a country spin on it. They sounded beautiful. They knew how to harmonize with each other.

Jenny thought they were singers. Rita thought they were comedians who just happened to be great singers. Ken veered left by thinking they were KC and Jojo. Rita tried to rope him back in by thinking they could be Will Arnett and Jason Bateman. They even played brothers on one of her favorite tv shows.

Then the votes were revealed. The bottom two was the Afghan Hound and the Gumball. The two had one last opportunity to impress the panel and they did with their final performance of the night.

They both performed “Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead”. The Gumball’s performance was so much better. Sure, hers had attitude. His had talent. It was a very easy choice for the panelists. They saved Gumball. The final guesses for the Afghan Hound was Brooke Hogan from Jenny, Olivia Jade from Ken, Sistine Stallone from Rita, and Bethany Frankel from Robin.

And they were all wrong because the Afghan Hound was Savannah Chrisley.

THE END!
