In tonight’s The Rookie finale episode, Detective Pearson was killed. He was one of the cops being blackmailed by Dr. Blair London. Well, the people she works for were cleaning house.
They were getting rid of loose ends. They were killing cops because they knew they could get away with it. It won’t be long before they come after the psychiatrist as well. Blair realized this too and she tried to make a deal with Wesley. He was an ADA. He was also married to a good cop. She thought he’d helped her get the best deal and he did. He offered her three to five years in prison.
Blair didn’t want that deal. She wanted full immunity. She wanted to start her life over somewhere else. She didn’t want to see the inside of a jail cell and so Wesley gave her time to think about it.
Blair hired a lawyer. Her lawyer thought she should take the deal. She would be getting off lightly if she accepted it. She committed a federal offence. She tanked numerous investigations. She helped several scary people get out of jail and they would all kill Blair to protect their secrets. Monica would even do it too.
Monica was the middle man in all of this. She met Blair three years ago. She forced Blair to work for her and just when Blair was about to accept the deal – some gunmen forced their way into her car.
The gunmen forced Blair to drive off to a secluded location. They didn’t know that Blair was on the phone with Officer Nolan. Nolan was the one that got through to Blair. They built a bond in a moment of crisis. He told her that she was in an unsafe position. He got through to her that she couldn’t trust Monica and now this happens.
Monica was behind the gunmen. You would think she would be too busy fighting for her own life to pay attention to Blair only she found the time to abduct Blair. Monica was also going on the run. There was a man by the name of Eric Ramsay that wanted to kill her. He wasn’t a client of hers. They’ve never worked together.
He merely wanted her dead because he thought she was getting too powerful. He thought she would eventually learn his secrets if she keeps going like she’s going. He wanted to kill her to get rid of that possibility. Monica went to his office. She tried to talk business with him. She said there was room for the both of them. And he didn’t care about that.
He was a career kingpin. He knows how to handle the mob, cartels, and lowered-tiered thugs. He didn’t know how to handle Monica and that’s why its easy for him to order her death.
Ramsay put out a million dollar bounty on her head. It was so tempting that some of her friends considered accepting the deal. Gundo was one of those people. Gundo decided to use the Ramsay’s situation to his own advantage. He showed Monica that he could kill her if he wanted to. He chose not to because he wants Monica to pay him two million dollars and give him ten percent of her business.
Monica agreed to the deal when Gundo had the advantage. She then followed that up by offering someone else five percent of her business and connection to the international market if they killed Gundo for her. She approached Christian Bautista with that offer. He was a money launderer.
He operates within California. He cleans all the gangs money for them. Monica was offering him the chance to go global. She didn’t know that an undercover cop was planted at his home. Officer Lucy Chen overheard their conversation and she warned the team looking into Monica about it.
Bautista was going out of town with his family. Monica was leaving the country. They didn’t want to be around when they made a move against Gundo. Just in case things didn’t go to plan. This freed up Chen. She was able to work with the others in saving and then arresting Gundo and his crew.
Monica missed all out of it because she was already heading to Switzerland. She found out from her contact in prison that Ramsay has a major benefactor named Jakob Olmstead. Ramsay was also risking the relationship by secretly sleeping with the man’s wife.
Monica was going to inform Olmstead. She forced Blair onto the same flight because she wanted to know what Blair told the cops. She knew that Blair met with Wesley.
She demanded information or she was going to kill Blair mid-flight. Blair told her everything. Monica could have forgiven her when she chose another route. She planned on gifting Blair to Olmstead. He was involved into a lot of things. One of them being human trafficking. He could sell to Blair to the highest bidder and so Nolan didn’t want that to happen.
Nolan was watching with the feds, the military, and Harper. They warned by Monica’s bodyguard that she forced Blair onto the plane at gunpoint. The officers then informed the feds. They hopped on a plane.
They met up with the military in Switzerland. They were told to keep their presence small. Nolan chose to ignore that order when he saw Blair was about to get sold. He stole an armored truck and he drove through the meeting with Olmstead. Nolan was knocked unconscious during a fight. He also noticed he was shot.
It didn’t matter because they rescued Blair. Blair confessed to everything on the flight back to the states. She took down a lot of people. Monica wasn’t one of them. She got away. She was on the run from her enemies. And the feds issued a warrant for her arrest with Interpol.
Nolan got to go home to his beautiful wife. Unfortunately, Monica’s last act was to help Oscar and his new buddy Jason escape prison. Jason escaping was going to put a crinkle in his ex-wife and her new husband’s plans to adopt.
