In tonight’s The Rookie episode, Sergeant Bradford witnessed a suicide. Bradford was talking to Mad Dog. The other man had replaced him on Metro, but Bradford never held any animosity towards Mad Dog. He actually tried to help him. He told him that his op wasn’t considering everything. Mad Dog ignored him.
He wanted to be right and unfortunately he injured his unit by sticking to his plan. Mad Dog didn’t think it was going to be that bad. He ignored Bradford’s advice because he sold out his team. He made a deal with Dr. Blair London. She was the police psychiatrist. And she put Mad Dog in touch with some very bad people.
Mad Dog did whatever these people wanted him to.
One of these people were the worse of all. It Mad Dog was put in touch with Monica. Monica has some scary enemies. She has even scarier clients. She didn’t care that the police were harmed and almost killed. She didn’t care about Mad Dog’s suicide. She later told Blair that it was just one less loose end.
She also told Blair to put the screws on the cops on the take. They were going to hang the whole suicide on Bradford. Blair knew the detective on the case. She blackmailed him with videos of his sessions and so he agreed to do what she asked.
Detective Pearson claimed that witnesses heard an argument on the roof. He had Blaire fake a profile in which Bradford come off as bitter and full of resentment.
Pearson made sure to put Bradford on leave. They were going to push for charges as well. They were going to make Bradford look guilty of murder because they weren’t sure what Mad Dog told him before he died. Sadly enough, Mad Dog never named names. He just said “she knew all his secrets” and then he killed himself. It was Bradford that came up with a name.
Bradford realized that Blair was involved by that alone. She’s seen everyone. She’s talked to everyone. She’s the only one that would have all of their secrets and so Bradford warned people about her.
He told Sergeant Grey he suspected she was involved in the op that went bad. Bradford also told Officer Nolan. Nolan was his union rep. He was there when Bradford was questioned by Detective Pearson. He saw that Pearson was looking for something that wasn’t there. After Bradford got sent home on suspension, Grey and Nolan teamed up.
Grey asked Nolan to lead the investigation into the doctor. He asked him to do it undercover. He also warned him not to involve Celina unless he was willing to risk her career along with his own. Nolan did end up telling Celina everything. He only did so once she agreed to keep it a secret. She also came in handy.
She realized who was the best person to know all of Blaire’s patients. It proved to be Smitty. Smitty hangs out in the psychiatrist waiting room. He sees everyone got to their sessions. He was there five days out of the week and he wouldn’t mind taking an extra break for Bradford.
Smitty told them who was meeting Blair that day. They also learned from him that Blair was seeing police officers from all over the city. According to a source they have in dispatch, the closure rate has gone down all over the city. It started about six months ago. It was right as Blair joined the department. She’s been blackmailing people to ensure that Monica’s clients get off scotch free. Monica was receiving a lot of business thanks to that and for some that wasn’t enough. Someone still tried to kill Monica.
Monica killed the last hitman only she might not be lucky with the next one. Which is why she’s looking for whoever is trying to kill her. She hired a bodyguard in the meantime.
She hired Charlie Bristow of all people. She was once Wesley and Lopez’s bodyguard. She did her job then and she was trying to do her job with Monica as well. Monice was making things harder on herself. She refused to cooperate with the police. She started asking everyone in LA that she worked for if they were trying to kill her. And honestly they weren’t going to admit it if they were.
Monice was doing her best to remind these people that she’s useful. All the while the detectives on her case made a breakthrough. Lopez and Harper identified the hitman that tried to kill her.
He was Samuel Desta. He was Portuguese. He was flown to the States for the sole purpose of killing Monica. He also came with a partner. The partner got away in the chaos when the police showed up. The detectives were looking for the partner. They wouldn’t give Monica any details. Forcing her to continue her search.
Monica decided to contact Christian Bautista. He was the money launderer for eighty percent of criminals in Los Angeles. He was also Sydney’s former boss. Sydney was the nanny that both Lopez and Harper share. Well, her old boss doesn’t want to give her up. He was demanding that Sydney still work for him.
He sent his bodyguard to intimidate her. She came clean with her new bosses. They planted Officer Chen as a new nanny. It’s her job to spy on Bautista. She also reported that Monica went to him for help.
The detectives agreed to send Chen backup if she needs it. Nolan also cracked Blair. He pretended to have evidence against her and it forced her hand. She proved to him that she was blackmailing Pearson. She was also willing to talk if she gets a deal for a new name and a new address.
She wants to start over where she can’t be hurt. She knows to fear Monica. Monica also learned that Eric Ramsay wants her dead. She tortured the information out of the second hitman and she was stumped. Ramsay wasn’t a client. He was merely aiming to take her out so that he could replace her in LA.
THE END!
