The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, July 5, reveals that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) will put their clothes back on as they try to process what just happened between them. Chelsea and Adam will quickly agree that they just got caught up in the moment and slipped up.
After Adam and Chelsea get on the same page about keeping quiet about their mistake, Adam will head back to his room and leave Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) a message about coming home.
Chelsea will also leave Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) a voicemail about being unable to live in this limbo, so she’ll plan to wait for Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) updates back in Genoa City.
At Society, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will warn that he’s concerned about disloyalty when it comes to the people who work for him.
Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will assure Victor that he didn’t tell Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) anything about Glissade and that his dad just jumped to conclusions about him working at Newman Enterprises.
Although Kyle won’t be able to do anything about Jack’s suspicions, he’ll make it clear that he’s turned against his family and can be trusted.
Kyle will push Victor to admit Jack’s right about his vengeful agenda, but Victor will only admit to wanting Glissade to be a massive success.
That said, Victor will certainly be fine with Kyle getting even with Jack and going after Jabot as part of that plan.
When Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) shows up, Victor will worry about her being out so late, but Claire will insist she just came for takeout and will head back home soon.
On Victor’s way out, he’ll seem pensive as he gazes in the window at Claire and Kyle smiling together.
Claire will admit she was craving empanadas, so that’s what brought her back to the restaurant after her earlier dinner with Kyle.
As for Kyle, he’ll admit he needed to get out of the house and will come clean about his plan to officially move out with Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell).
Claire will wonder if Kyle is doing this to punish Jack and Diane Jenkins-Abbott (Susan Walters), but Kyle will deny it and suggest he’s a grown man who should’ve found a place of his own by now anyway.
When Kyle admits he hasn’t told Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) about his move yet, Claire will seem taken aback over that news.
At Crimson Lights, Summer will complain to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) about all the bad decisions that Kyle keeps making – like getting involved with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) again.
Summer will point out that she saw Kyle and Audra conspiring, but Nick won’t think that’s enough to warrant concern.
However, Summer will blab about Kyle getting fired and joining forces with Audra at Glissade, which will be a direct competitor for Jabot.
Summer will also point out that since Audra ripped the company out from under Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John), Tucker could be plotting revenge.
Since Summer won’t want Harrison tangled up in any of the drama, she’ll drop more hints about formalizing the custody agreement.
Summer will mention looking at houses with yards and trying to make her time with Harrison more official.
Phyllis will question if Summer wants to take Harrison away from Kyle, but she’ll deny that. Summer will also acknowledge that it’s best to avoid a custody battle, but Nick will want to make sure she really understands the situation here.
Kyle is Harrison’s biological father, so Nick will basically act like Summer has no chance against him in court since Harrison is a happy kid and Kyle poses no real threat to him.
Phyllis and Nick will wonder if Summer’s issues are more about Claire than Audra, but she’ll ultimately feel like they’re not supporting her and will storm out.
Once Phyllis and Nick are alone, they’ll be glad they were able to avoid their own custody dispute over Summer when she was younger. Nick will suggest there was never any need for that since Phyllis was a great mom.
Nevertheless, Nick and Phyllis will remain worried about Summer since something’s going on with her and it’s pushing her to extremes.
Next on Friday’s Y&R episode, Summer will stop by the Abbott mansion to peek at a sleeping Harrison.
Diane will be there when Summer arrives, so she’ll ask for Summer’s help getting through to Kyle and convincing him not to move out with Harrison.
Summer will flip out since that’ll be the first she’s heard of this move.
It’ll leave Summer fearing that Kyle might try to take Harrison out of Genoa City, so she’ll blame Diane for letting it all snowball to this point.
