The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that fans are still reeling over Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) hitting the sheets at their hotel in Baltimore.
Chelsea and Adam were really connecting on a deeper level over Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) when it happened.
Of course, all that bourbon they were drinking also affected the situation, but the point is that Chelsea and Adam crossed the line.
There’s no undoing what Adam and Chelsea did together, so now they’ll just have to live with the fallout – and it’s going to get messy according to Melissa Claire Egan’s recent interview with SOD.
Egan argued that “this isn’t an Adam/Chelsea reunion,” but she was quick to point out that the bond between the characters is significant and powerful.
Even so, Adam is still in love with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) – and Chelsea is still in love with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) as well.
Chelsea and Adam are going to be haunted by guilt as a result, but it sounds like Egan welcomes the soapiness of it all.
In fact, Egan admitted she sent a voice memo to Y&R Head Writer and Executive Producer Josh Griffith to give him a nudge in this cheating story direction.
Griffith texted back that it was already happening and suggested that great minds think alike, so Egan said they were in agreement on where this storyline should go.
Although Egan knows not everyone will approve of Chelsea and Adam’s passionate betrayal, she feels like it’s a good thing to at least get fans talking.
“People are fired up one way or the other and it’s kind of fun to see,” Egan insisted.
Chelsea and Adam are going to be miserable as they keep this secret, but Melissa Claire Egan’s having a blast playing such a layered story with Mark Grossman, Jason Thompson and Courtney Hope.
Since this isn’t a random one-night stand and there’s definitely some history involved for Adam and Chelsea, that’s sure to affect things once the secret inevitably blows up.
Our Y&R predictions point to Chelsea and Adam dealing with a lot more pain down the road – and the same goes for Billy and Sally once they realize they’ve been betrayed.
