The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap and spoilers for Friday, January 19 state that today’s show offered some explosive highlights, right before the weekend hits. The episode starts with Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) in her bed, when Jordan (Colleen Zenk) shows up and basically tells her she’ll never get rid of her.
The good news is that it was all a dream, so when Claire wakes up, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is on her bed, and tells her daughter, “You are not alone”.
The two ladies have a great scene together. Victoria tells Claire how proud she is of her and how far she’s come.
Claire shares a bit about her visit with Jordan at the prison, and while she knows the worst is over, she’s scared about the long road ahead with healing.
She also questions what she’ll do when she’s released, and Victoria encourages her to come to Genao City to get to know her family.
Claire notes that she already knows the Newmans well; however, Victoria tells her daughter that she’ll finally get to carve a real perspective on the Newmans, not something she’s read online or propaganda from her Aunt.
They end their chat with Claire agreeing that Victoria and Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck) can come for visits, and then the two embrace.
Speaking of Cole, he’s summoned by Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and arrives at the Ranch. The men joke that it’s been a hot minute since Victor has requested a meeting with Cole, and it doesn’t take Victor long to get down to business.
He asks what Cole’s intentions are with Claire, and the new father notes that his sole purpose is to be there for his daughter. She’s still healing from so much trauma and his goal is to follow her lead and support her any way he can.
He tells Victor he’s moving back to Genoa City, for now, and can do so as he’s taken a sabbatical from Oxford to write his book.
He can write it anywhere, and there is no deadline, so here he is.
Victor acknowledges that as Cole is placing his daughter at the top of his list, he is putting Victoria on the top of his; and nothing (or no one) will take precedence over this, in his world.
Meanwhile, over at the Abbott mansion, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) comes downstairs to find Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) still having a meltdown over Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) gaslighting her.
Jack encourages her to ignore Tucker and move on; however, she can’t let go of this and rushes out of the house in a hurry.
Devon Hamilton-Winters (Bryton James) is with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) at GCAC, enjoying a working lunch together when Tucker swings by.
Devon gives him a frosty welcome, and Tucker tries to remain pleasant while bantering back and forth with Billy. He tells the two that they don’t need to worry about him interfering with Chancellor-Winters, his new focus will be Glissade.
Besides, he wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize his son and grandson’s legacy. Billy questions why he can’t run the company from Paris, and Tucker takes his cue and leaves their orbit.
Billy ask Devon if he trusts his father’s word about backing off of CW, and Devon notes that he doesn’t.
As Tucker is walking away, he runs into Ashley, and the two get into the Paris café incident, yet again. Ashley accuses him of being cruel, trying to mess with her sanity, as Tucker stands there very confused.
She pushes him into the jazz lounge bar so they can hash it out. They do, but nothing truly gets accomplished.
Tucker tells her that she’s so afraid of commitment, so much so that she’s created this scenario in her head to make him out to be the bad guy.
The next scene shows Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman) showing up at Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) office, and she immediately admits to telling Jack about Nikki’s drinking woes.
Lauren tells her that she stands by what she did and that she would do it again. She wants Nikki to get the support she needs and with her AA sponsor Seth (Brian Gaskill) suffering a relapse, she needs a friend in her corner. Nikki tells herself she’s not mad at Lauren or Jack, she’s mad at herself.
Nikki laments that she doesn’t want to bring her friends down, and Lauren says her friends want to be there for her. There would be no one better than Jack to be her sponsor, he not only cares about her, but he knows what she’s going through.
Nikki brings up the topic of Victor and his rivalry with Jack, as a point of concern; not to mention the fact that it may get under Victor’s skin if she’s turning to Jack for support versus him.
While Lauren does acknowledge this, she also points out that more than anything, Victor wants Nikki to be sober and healthy.
Nikki sees her point. Interestingly enough, the Moustache interrupts their chat to take Nikki to lunch, and Lauren heads out.
Of course, after Nikki’s office, Lauren updates Jack on her talk with Nikki at the Abbott mansion.
She notes that Nikki was still digging her heels but saw the importance of having a friend who understands her addiction plight as a sponsor. Lauren sees hope that Nikki will soon agree to rely on Jack as her AA sponsor.
Meanwhile, Nikki and Victor enjoy a meal at Society. Victor updates her on his chat with Cole, and the worries he has about the professor moving back to GC.
He’s slightly concerned over a romantic reunion between him and Vicky, as his daughter has had a ton of failed relationships over the years, not to mention the drama she’s endured.
Still, Nikki reminds him that the two broke up long before Claire was even born. Still, fans can sense the Moustache has a bad feeling about Cole, and Victor’s gut is never wrong.
Lastly, Cole and Vicky meet up at Crimson to grab a coffee. She updates him on her chat with Claire and their “hug” breakthrough and how she feels their daughter has turned a slight corner.
Cole says he’s a tad jealous about the hug, but Victoria assures him that Claire’s agreed to them visiting her, which brightened his day. They celebrate her progress.
Interestingly enough, Cole brings up his meeting with The Moustache at the Ranch. Still, while he didn’t say anything negative about the talk, he did seem to twist what Victor said.
Cole tells Victoria that her dad had questions regarding the author’s future plans, and even said that it could’ve gone worse.
He tells Victoria that he and Victor have a lot in common, that is, protecting their daughters. Still, he told Victoria that Victor was taking steps to include Claire in the family, which wasn’t anything like what Victor said during their chat.
Is Cole trying to limit any drama between Victor and Vicky or is he playing games to spark a fight?
Y&R spoilers say Cole has been acting very strange as of late, which has had fans wondering if he’s on the up and up.
