The Young and the Restless Recap: Monday, January 29 – Audra Fired After Refusing London Job – Jack’s Mystery COO

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Monday, January 29, reveals that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) and Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) will both be running late for their evening together, but they’ll quickly get their official first date started.

At the GCAC, Chance will admire Summer’s dress before they awkwardly chat over drinks, so they’ll try to figure out why they’re so uncomfortable.

Summer will point out that it’s the first time they’re exploring the possibility of being more than friends, but Chance will think the solution is getting to know each other better.

That’ll kick off a fun game of questions about each other, so Chance and Summer will fall into an easy banter.

Talk will turn to Summer and Chance’s past heartbreaks, but Summer will admit something’s shifted for her. After Summer says she feels lighter and more hopeful now, Chance will suggest drinking to that.

At Newman Media, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will summon Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) back to her office since she won’t like how they left things before.

Audra will apologize for overstepping and will assure Nikki that they won’t get into anything personal from now on.

Nikki will think that’s for the best and will hope Audra understands what she’s about to ask her.

Since Nikki will feel monitored by Audra now, she won’t feel like this working relationship is going to fly anymore.

Audra will think it sounds like Nikki’s gearing up to fire her, but Nikki will insist she simply wants to transfer Audra to London, where she can prepare to set up the new international branch of Newman Media.

Nikki will act like this is a great opportunity for Audra, but Audra will think she’s trying to ship her off to London and avoid a reminder of her drinking.

Audra won’t want to leave Genoa City and will think it’s a huge mistake for Nikki to get rid of her when she’s already lost Claire Grace (Hayley Erin).

Stress can be a major trigger when it comes to alcoholism – and Nikki will be creating more of it for herself.

Nikki will be annoyed over her issues coming into play again, so she’ll accuse Audra of proving her point.

Since Audra will refuse to take the London gig on Monday’s Y&R episode, Nikki will have no choice but to let her go.

After promising a nice severance package and a glowing letter of recommendation, Nikki will remind Audra of the NDA she signed. Audra will promise to honor it and will genuinely hope that Nikki beats her disease.

Once Audra’s gone, Nikki will immediately reach for her flask, but she’ll put it back and decide to call Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) instead.

At Society, Jack will spot Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and join him at the bar, so he’ll claim he bumped into Nikki and heard the gist of the Newman family’s latest trauma.

Jack will offer to listen if Victor needs to talk and will end up sharing a drink with him.

Victor will seem a bit irritated over Jack’s questions about Nikki and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), but he’ll assure him that they’re handling it.

Although Victor will wonder what Jack really wants to know, Jack will maintain that he’s just concerned and reaching out.

Now that Victor has addressed Jack’s worries, he’ll urge him to butt out of family business.

Once Nikki makes an SOS call to Jack, he’ll pretend he had to rush off to Diane Jenkins-Abbott (Susan Walters) and will leave Victor alone again.

Audra will eventually come along and give Victor updates on what just went down with Nikki, so he’ll offer her another position elsewhere at Newman Enterprises.

Once Audra turns Victor down and promises she’ll honor her NDA, she’ll be ready to move on to other projects and will hint about it being a clarifying evening.

At Newman Media, Nikki will explain everything that just happened with Audra and panic over all the chaos she’s causing, but Jack will try to calm her down.

After Jack suggests they can fix this, he’ll think the ship has probably sailed on Audra since she knows how to hold a grudge.

Nikki will shut down the idea of Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) or Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) filling in for Audra since Victor wants them working together right now.

Victoria needs to focus on Claire, so she won’t be an option either.

Jack will also suggest Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) or Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) could fill Audra’s COO seat, but Nikki won’t trust Nate or see herself working with Sally.

Jack will admit Sally’s got a company of her own to run anyway, but he’ll eventually decide he has someone else in mind for the job – someone Nikki won’t turn down.

Although Jack won’t reveal his mystery Newman Media COO pick yet, he’ll reassure Nikki and praise her for having the strength to call him today.

While Nikki and Jack are sharing a close moment, Victor will show up outside the locked office door and call out to ask if Nikki’s in there.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Jack and Nikki will land in a tight spot, so stay tuned for news on how they’ll handle it.
