The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap and spoilers for Tuesday, January 16 note that it was a drama-filled day in the land of Genoa City! The show picks up where Monday left off, with Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) offering to take Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) mind off his breakup.
The two head to Society and share a nice meal and some laughs. Chance talks about him and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) breaking up, how there are no hard feelings between the two, and how they’ll likely end up friends, once the awkwardness around their breakup settles.
Summer also chimes in about how she and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) are getting better at co-parenting and trying to aim for friendship.
The “date” ends with no kissing; however, Summer’s mom more than makes up for it with her pseudo-date (more on that to come).
Over at Crimson, Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman) is enjoying a coffee when Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) walks in.
Nikki thanks Lauren for all she did the night before, and her friend makes it clear that the entire situation frightened her.
Lauren goes on to say that she knows how much sobriety means to Nikki, and while she’s a bit hard on her friend for falling off the wagon at first, she does acknowledge the difficult circumstances Nikki’s been through as of late.
Lauren talks about her son’s struggles with addiction and lets Nikki know without a shadow of a doubt that if she ever needs her, she can call on her. Nikki’s sponsor Seth (Brian Gaskill) walks in, a bit surprised to see the ladies there.
Nikki thanked him for his help the night before and remarked that she was at their AA meeting that morning, but he wasn’t.
Seth, who is acting odd, notes he is tired, but he’ll be attending tonight’s meeting. After he leaves to grab a coffee, Nikki comments to Lauren that Seth is not acting like himself.
Across town, father-son duo Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) and Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) are hanging out in Daniel’s apartment when the rock star gets a text.
Daniel assumes it is from Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell), as Danny grims at the message; however, it ends up being from Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).
Lucy Romalotti (Lily Brooks O’Briant) enters the scene, wanting grilled cheese, but not from her dad or grandad, but from her mom, Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom). The teen sends her a text and invites her over.
As Lucy heads back to the kitchen to get the ingredients organized, the men talk about how it must be nice for Lucy to have both parents in the same town, and that Heather can come over when she wants.
Danny presses Daniel on how he feels about Heather coming over, but his son skirts the topic.
Once Heather arrives, Danny gets another text from Phyllis to meet her at the jazz lounge, and he heads out, not telling either who he is meeting up with.
Donning a trench coat and only lingerie underneath, Phyllis also leaves her hotel suite. The two meet, and instantly Phyllis asks Danny to play her his new song that she “loves” so much.
She ends up videotaping it, which seems innocent enough; however, she also ends up posting the video onto social media with the caption, “TFW (the feeling when) your ex plays you a love song”, as she is in the view of the camera as he plays.
Of course, the two talk after his song and have a meaningful conversation. Danny asks Phyllis about Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John), and she makes it clear that they have no future, no passion, and no connection; nothing like what is between her and Danny.
As she sneakily reveals her lingerie under her coat, Danny gets a text, from Cricket, showing him Phyllis’s social media post.
Danny gets quite upset and accuses Phyllis of not changing at all. The two start fighting, and Red reveals that Christine is just as manipulative, and mentions how she brought up their weekend away together and how it was Danny’s idea.
Danny panics and asks Phyllis if she revealed the kiss the two shared recently, and she reassures him she could have, but she didn’t.
Phyllis challenges Danny and notes that he is “faking it” with Cricket and pretending to be comfortable when he knows he’s much more at ease with her.
Flashback to Heather, Lucy, and Daniel, who have finished their dinner and are enjoying hot chocolate with marshmallows.
Tired, Lucy heads up to bed, and the co-parents banter about who’s going to do the dishes, when Daniel thanks Heather for coming over at Lucy’s request.
He notes that Lucy likes family time, and this is when Heather lays out a huge confession, telling Daniel that she loves coming over and spending time together, as she’s falling in love with him all over again.
Back to Phyllis and Danny at the lounge club, and a frustrated Danny walks away from their table and orders a drink at the bar.
Phyllis follows him, and after some seductive banter, the two kiss; except, unlike the last time, Danny does not pull back.
Of course, the show closes with Christine walking down the stairs to the jazz lounge and catching the two in a lip lock.
Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that Cricket and Phyllis’s feud will only intensify in the weeks ahead, so fans will have to catch their favorite CBS soap daily to see what happens next.
