The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Tuesday, January 23, reveals that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will run into Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) at Crimson Lights, so they’ll discuss their divorce being final before talk turns to Diane Jenkins-Abbott (Susan Walters) getting promoted to co-CEO status.
Although Kyle will put on a brave face, Summer will eventually get him to admit he’s dealing with some disappointment.
However, Kyle will know that Jabot needs a singular vision right now – and Diane won’t push back against what Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) wants.
After Kyle witnesses a flirty interaction between Summer and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd), he’ll call out his ex’s crush. Summer will act like she’s just friends with Chance, but Kyle will point out that she doesn’t need his permission to become more.
Kyle and Summer will acknowledge that they still care about each other, so they’ll also wish each other happiness and agree that’s never going to change.
Next on Tuesday’s Y&R episode, Summer will chat with Chance before Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) walks in and spots them together.
Sharon will end up speaking with Chance alone, so that’ll give her an opportunity to ask for a favor.
Sharon won’t want Chance to feel awkward around her, so they’ll be on the same page about him still fixing the water heater when necessary and coming in for coffee.
Although Sharon will hint that Chance can bring in whatever girlfriend he likes, he’ll downplay his relationship with Summer before walking her out to her car.
In Tucker McCall’s (Trevor St. John) suite, he’ll have another argument with Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) about which version of Paris events is true.
Tucker will angrily suggest talking to the waitstaff and asking them if they remember a man going berserk since he won’t think they’re going to back up Ashley’s story.
Later, Ashley will remember Tucker smashing the glass and throwing his chair before having a flashback of Tucker’s less drastic display.
Once Ashley shakes off the second flashback and mutters for Tucker to get out of her head, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) will see how rattled her sister is.
When Traci asks how they can get the facts of what happened in Paris, Ashley will know a way.
At Jabot, Diane will remain concerned about taking the promotion Kyle wanted, but Jack will reassure her ahead of the press release and memo about her new position.
After Kyle arrives, Diane will speak with him alone and get his reassurance as well.
In Claire Grace’s (Hayley Erin) room at the psych ward, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will insist this isn’t a dream and there’s no need to be afraid.
Claire will marvel over Nikki coming to check on her and will wonder why after everything she put Nikki through.
Although Claire will ask whether she’s inherently evil, Nikki will pass no judgment and remind Claire that they saved each other’s lives.
Claire will talk about getting a chance to visit other floors for exercise with the orderlies – including the pediatric wing.
Seeing the family moments up there will make Claire feel a little jealous and wish for the family she might’ve had growing up.
Nikki will understand that, but she’ll also try to keep the focus on what they can do in the present. Claire will sob over being broken, but Nikki will give her a pep talk and try to boost her confidence.
After Claire soothes herself, she’ll talk about learning to do that since Jordan (Colleen Zenk) never gave her genuine hugs.
Although Nikki will show sympathy, Claire seemingly won’t feel deserving of it and will think it’s time for Nikki to leave.
Nikki will seem unsettled as she exits and will contemplate drinking from her flask once she’s in the park.
That’ll lead to Nikki interrupting Jack’s strategy session with a phone call, so she’ll admit she’s in trouble and needs help.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Nikki’s news will cause Jack to leap into action, so stay tuned for updates on how he’ll try to come through for her.
