The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 3, reveals that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will speak to an employee in the psych ward and ask if she can sit with Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) while she sleeps.
Once Victoria is allowed in Claire’s room, she’ll sit by her bedside and acknowledge how much Claire’s been through.
Victoria will assure Claire that she has plenty of family members who want to fold her into their lives when she’s ready.
After Victoria pulls out a couple of books for Claire to read, she’ll admit she didn’t know what Claire liked. However,
Victoria will look forward to finding out and will keep offering reassurances until Claire finally wakes up.
Claire will stare at Victoria with a blank look on her face, but Victoria will try to put her mind at ease as she wishes her a happy new year.
At Crimson Lights, Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) will walk in on Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) clashing again, so she’ll wonder if this is really how they want to start 2024.
After Christine leaves, Summer will talk to Phyllis about her pursuit of Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) and assume it’s really about her rivalry with Christine.
Phyllis will point out that sometimes you give up on love and then find it unexpectedly again.
As Phyllis seemingly speaks from the heart, Summer will wonder if she really feels that way about Danny.
Phyllis will hint that maybe she’s talking about Summer and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd), so Summer will lash out at her mom for spinning this around on her and bringing up Chance.
When Phyllis talks about how her daughter used to be brave, Summer will suggest that the old version of her was an entitled brat.
However, Phyllis will feel like “the old Summer” was passionate and would’ve made sure Chance knew how she truly felt.
Once Phyllis leaves, Sharon will come around the corner and reveal to Summer that she overheard their conversation about Chance.
Summer will get embarrassed and assure Sharon that she’d never do anything to compromise her relationship.
That said, Summer will wonder if Sharon is in love with Chance – though she’ll let Sharon know she doesn’t have to answer.
Sharon will point out that it’s a personal question, but she’ll end up admitting she hasn’t put a label on her romance with Chance at this point.
Since there are no expectations, so Summer will mention that it sounds casual. Sharon will suggest that she’s having fun and add that’s all she has room for in her life right now.
When Chance comes strolling in and greets the ladies, he’ll notice the awkward tension as Sharon walks away from Summer.
Chance will ask Summer if everything’s all right, so she’ll give him a nervous look.
At Daniel Romalotti Jr’s (Michael Graziadei) place, Lucy Romalotti (Lily Brooks O’Briant) will express surprise when she learns Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) didn’t stay the night.
After Lucy admits she caught Daniel and Heather snuggled up together, she’ll show Daniel the pic she snapped of them and leave him looking uncomfortable.
At one point, Daniel will reflect on the aftermath of his New Year’s Eve kiss with Heather and the spark that they both felt.
In the flashback scene, Daniel will talk about how they can’t go back and will mention that he’s with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) now, so Heather will act like they just got swept up in the memories and suggest there’s no reason for Lily to know.
Back in the present, Lucy will seem disappointed over Heather leaving last night, so she’ll admit to Daniel that she was hoping to have breakfast with her parents like the old days.
Daniel will offer to make Lucy his famous banana pancakes and will ask Danny to join them when he appears.
Once Christine arrives, she’ll invite Danny on a weekend getaway to the lake, so he’ll get on board and insist he’s looking forward to it.
Christine will have an errand to run, so she’ll skip the pancake breakfast.
Lucy will text Heather to convince her to come over, but Heather will ask if Daniel knows about this invitation.
Lucy will imply that it was Daniel’s idea, so Heather will return to his penthouse.
When Daniel realizes Heather has come back on Wednesday’s Y&R episode, he’ll assure her that it’s fine despite the obvious awkwardness.
Over breakfast, Heather will talk about how Daniel’s pancakes taste like home, so Danny will pick on the lingering connection between them.
While Heather and Lucy are cleaning up the kitchen, Danny will point out that Lucy thinks she’s playing matchmaker.
Danny will also acknowledge some of the looks he witnessed between Heather and Daniel, so he’ll think his son needs to straighten this out ASAP.
Daniel will act like Heather knows he’s with Lily and understands the situation, but Danny won’t be so sure about that.
After Danny witnesses yet another close moment between Daniel and Heather as she departs, he’ll privately ask “what the hell” Daniel’s getting himself into.
