The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) was once a complex and interesting character, but things have gotten off track at this point. We get that Claire needed a redemption storyline, but we’re not sure we like the results!
Fortunately, there are some easy strategies Y&R can use to steer Claire in the right direction.
Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) daughter needs a character overhaul, but it’s not too late to remedy the situation.
With that in mind, let’s talk about Claire and some possible improvements.
Here are three ways to fix Claire if the show’s willing to listen and make some changes.
1) Claire needs an adult makeover
For starters, they need to stop dressing Claire like she just raided preteen Katie Abbott’s (Sienna Mercuri) closet.
Claire often sports a look that seems way too young for her, so we’re begging the show to give her a more adult makeover.
We get that Claire is Harrison Abbott’s (Redding Munsell) nanny, so we’re not saying she has to dress like she’s headed to the office or a gala.
That said, there’s a difference between caring for a kid and dressing like one.
2) Enough with the Jordan sob stories
Did you know Claire really had it rough growing up with mean old Jordan (Colleen Zenk)? Of course you did!
That’s because the show constantly tells us how hard it was for poor Claire in the form of various Jordan sob stories.
At some point, Y&R started hurting the character more than helping with this angle.
We have sympathy for Claire and what she went through, but it’s time to move beyond all the Jordan terror and let her talk about other topics.
3) Give Claire more friends and experiences
Another problem is the way the show’s leaning into Claire’s lack of experience.
Claire’s never drank much alcohol, never had real friends, never had a romance, etc.
They’re playing up Claire’s innocence to the point where she acts amazed by baked goods and worms in the garden.
If they want us to think of Claire as a serious love interest for Kyle, changes need to be made.
Since Harrison is basically Claire’s best friend, it’d be wise to build up Claire’s friendships with characters like Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks).
Claire needs to broaden her social circle and gain more of the experiences she’s lacking.
Bottom line, Claire could use an overhaul that gives her a sense of maturity. It’s difficult to buy Claire as a good match for Kyle at the moment, but the show could turn things around.
