The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) latest storyline has certainly been full of surprises. Y&R fans were taken aback when Ashley took a much calmer approach with Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) and ultimately admitted he was right about their bistro fight.
Of course, that left viewers suspicious about the reason for Ashley’s change of heart, but she offered an intriguing answer in the February 23 episode. Someone off-screen helped Ashley on her mental health journey.
Ashley previously mentioned staying behind in Paris to talk things out with a friend – and it turns out that friend is a male psychologist.
It’s interesting that Ashley has some mystery man in Paris that she feels comfortable opening up to.
Ashley clarified that this guy is a personal friend and not someone she’d seen professionally, so that’s an important distinction.
Could this man be a former flame of Ashley’s? Since Ashley has spent so much time in Paris, there’s a chance she might’ve dated or at least hooked up with this guy at some point.
Then again, maybe this mystery man is a friend with the potential to become more.
The fact that he’s not officially Ashley’s doctor could make it easier for them to eventually cross that romantic line.
Naturally, we have to acknowledge the possibility that this guy could remain nameless and faceless in the friend zone.
The fact that so much happens off-screen has become a frequent joke and complaint on social media, so this psychologist may have just been a convenient way to get Ashley to her epiphany.
Even so, it’s fun to imagine some dashing Frenchman showing up in Genoa City with an accent and a declaration of love.
On the other hand, this guy could be an American who currently lives in Paris – or perhaps he could even be a character with ties to Y&R history.
There are a lot of options to explore here if the show casts this role for an exciting debut.
However, there’s one more possibility left to consider that could mean Ashley is in worse mental shape than anyone thinks.
Could this psychologist simply exist in Ashley’s head? Is this some fictional person Ashley’s made up to help her make sense of all the Tucker drama?
Regardless, fans will be eager to see where Ashley’s storyline heads next!
