The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) and Summer Newman’s (Allison Lanier) future seems bright, but there are bound to be some stumbling blocks along the way.
Likewise, Abby Newman-Abbott’s (Melissa Ordway) relationship with Devon Hamilton-Winters (Bryton James) is going well, but some turmoil will inevitably hit hard for this couple sooner or later.
Devon and Abby have discussed the topic of marriage in the past, but what if a shocking twist makes it so Abby’s technically still married to Chance?
It’d be easy for the writers to claim there was some divorce paperwork problem, so how would Chance and Abby react to the news if it turns out they’re still husband and wife?
A lot has changed since Abby cheated on Chance with Devon. Y&R fans can’t forget that many of Chance and Abby’s issues stemmed from Chance being so devoted to his very dangerous job.
That’s no longer a concern since Chance walked away from the police force and has taken a far safer position at Chancellor-Winters.
Of course, we should add that Abby has now scored a Chancellor-Winters board seat, so that could bring more opportunities to interact with Chance and reconnect with him.
Melissa Ordway has hinted about the possibility of a Chance and Abby reunion in interviews and behind-the-scenes content, so maybe they could still get back together.
Perhaps Devon’s marriage proposal could be the catalyst for Abby to ultimately receive updates on her divorce snag.
Abby might learn she’s actually still married to Chance through some filing error and have to pump the brakes on Devon.
If Chance and Abby are forced to revisit their divorce discussion, could they consider giving their marriage another try?
It seems like Abby and Chance have both matured during their time apart, so it might be something they at least mull over.
As a result, Summer might worry she’s going to lose her future with Chance before it ever truly has a chance to begin.
Even if Chance and Abby still decided to go through with the official split in the end, a little rewrite to undo the divorce would create some great drama in the meantime.
