The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) may not be able to escape her past. Although Claire has tried to distance herself from her old life with Jordan (Colleen Zenk), her aunt’s influence may linger and affect her behavior once again.
Claire has been given plenty of support from her family since the whole truth came out. It’s clear that Claire has been embraced as a Newman and given a second chance despite her previous schemes.
However, Claire’s scheming side could come back around for a few different reasons. For starters, there’s no denying that this version of Claire is less interesting than the previous one.
Claire had some fascinating layers when she first came on the show. We saw a version of Claire who could play innocent on the surface, but she was actually quite manipulative and capable of some truly terrible things.
Y&R really gave Hayley Erin an opportunity to show off her acting skills back when Claire was focused on completing Jordan’s mission. Although Claire may not be under Jordan’s control anymore, the lessons she’s learned could still affect her decisions moving forward.
It’s one thing for Claire to be this perfect angel when everything’s going her way. Claire’s life is about as good as it gets right now, but what happens if everything starts to fall apart?
There’s no guarantee that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck) are going to get this fairytale happy ending that Claire wants. Claire’s blissful family bubble may burst sooner or later.
Of course, there’s also a good chance that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) are going to wind up back together. Losing Kyle could help send Claire over the edge as well.
If Y&R really wanted to seal the deal on Claire’s breakdown, they could strip away her Newman status. The show could make it so there was a mistake with the DNA test results and undo Claire being a Newman in the end.
There’s no guarantee that’ll happen, but the point is that Claire’s life is bound to head downhill eventually. This is a soap, so Claire may face some turmoil that she can’t handle – and that could serve as a mental health tipping point down the road.
