The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that there could be a new key player in Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) latest storyline. Let’s talk about a familiar face who could complicate things along the way.
For starters, we should mention there have been some clues to suggest that Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins) might actually be his twisted twin brother, Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins).
Although Y&R made it seem like Martin perished due to that balcony tumble, a simple clothes switch could explain why he survived instead of Alan.
Since Alan didn’t seem to recognize the Abbott mansion when he first came back to town, many fans began to suspect he was really Martin. It’s possible the show decided to drop the whole Martin swap shocker, but there’s another hint to consider.
In the October 8 episode, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) introduced Sharon to Alan and shared that she was a trained therapist. Alan was quite impressed once Sharon talked about her education and work background, so he asked a favor of her.
Since Alan is doing a psychological study and writing a book, he requested Sharon’s input. Sharon admitted she’s busy with her new company, but she did give Alan a “maybe” and could end up helping him if she feels pressured enough.
If that’s the case, there are probably two ways this story could go. If this is really Alan and not Martin, then he might see some troubling warning signs and make an effort to help Sharon.
Sharon could make Alan her next victim if he catches on and “Cameron Kirsten” (Linden Ashby) convinces her that she has to silence him.
However, it’s also possible that the show will stick to the plan of a Martin switch story. It makes sense for Martin to be doing a psychological study and for him to use Sharon as a way to see if he can fool a therapist.
Martin could eventually sense that Sharon is a kindred spirit – at least in her current state of mental decline. Maybe Sharon will slip up and ultimately let the truth pour out regarding Heather Stevens’ (Vail Bloom) demise.
If that happens, “Alan” might manipulate Sharon into thinking she’s right to be listening to “Cameron” and that her actions were justified. Perhaps “Alan” will assure Sharon that her secret is safe and push her to keep heading down this terrible path.
Martin could become obsessed with Sharon and want to see if she can get away with all this. There’s even a chance Martin might start crushing on Sharon, so that might be another interesting curveball.
