The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) did something significant that could affect Harrison Abbott’s (Redding Munsell) future, so let’s talk about some surprising new dialogue. Y&R just snuck in a rewrite that totally changes the Harrison custody story, so it’s certainly worth addressing.
In the August 9 episode, Summer turned to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) for help since she was feeling so desperate over all the custody drama.
After Summer acknowledged that she wasn’t Harrison’s biological mother, she threw viewers a major curveball.
Victor pointed out that he thought Summer adopted Harrison, so Summer noted that she indeed did when they were living in Italy!
This is clearly a rewrite since Summer would’ve been highlighting that adoption long before now if it was a factor.
Summer is Harrison’s legal mother and has rights just like Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) does, so there’s no reason she should’ve been silent about adopting their son.
Kyle looks like even more of a jerk now for constantly throwing Summer’s lack of biological ties in her face.
Summer was already Harrison’s mother in every way that counts, but now it’s confirmed that she’s his adoptive mom – and that’s a huge deal when you’re talking about a custody feud that could end up in court.
Y&R was previously acting like Summer was just some whiny former stepmother with no solid claim to Harrison, so it seems like they finally felt the need to up the stakes and give Summer a stronger case.
Of course, Summer and Kyle’s custody feud may not go as far as the courtroom if Victor gets his way.
Victor is now trying to force these co-parents to reach a solution, so we’ll see if Kyle and Summer can find some path to putting Harrison first.
Our predictions hint that Summer and Kyle still have plenty of clashing ahead of them, so the road to peace won’t be easy!
Victor may have to make some strategy updates if he gets bad news about Kyle and Summer’s continued conflict.
