The Young and the Restless Thursday, July 18 Recap: Summer’s Custody Trial to Block Harrison’s Trip, Adam Threatens Nikki

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, July 18, reveals that before Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) can answer Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) about his Paris idea, he’ll give Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell) updates and get him excited about the trip.

While Harrison is in the kitchen with Mrs. Martinez, Claire will admit she’s unsure about going since she’ll assume Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) isn’t on board.

Kyle will confess that Summer isn’t thrilled, but he won’t think they should let that stop them.

Once Kyle says he’ll be too busy to watch Harrison himself, he’ll suggest Harrison can only go if Claire comes along.

Claire will point out that Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) could go in her place, but Kyle will think that’d be a disaster.

After Kyle plays up how he wants to give Harrison this break from the toxic conflict, Claire will agree to think about it.

At Crimson Lights, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will have a concerned meeting with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) now that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is officially back at Newman Media.

Later, Claire will give Victoria the news about Kyle’s offer to take her to Paris with Harrison.

Although Victoria will think that sounds like a wonderful idea, Claire will wonder why she feels so incredibly anxious then.

At Society, Nick will join Summer and Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) discussion about Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), but he’ll think Summer might be overreacting since Audra may not pose any sort of threat.

Phyllis will argue that it’s only a matter of time until Audra gets Kyle back in her bed and will remain worried about Audra getting too close to Harrison.

Summer will also complain about Kyle adding Claire and Harrison to the Paris trip just to hurt her.

Nick will still be nervous about Summer getting lawyers involved in this custody drama, but Phyllis will act like Kyle has left Summer no choice.

As for this Paris situation, Summer will dash off to speak with her lawyer and hope a pending custody battle is enough to keep Kyle from leaving the country with Harrison.

Once Summer is gone, Nick will scold Phyllis for fueling the custody feud instead of trying to deescalate things, but he’ll ultimately put the mess aside and ask if Phyllis wants to have lunch.

At Newman Media on Thursday’s Y&R episode, Adam will bicker with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) during his first day back on the job.

Nevertheless, Victor will push Adam to focus on hyping up Glissade and will be pleased that he’s right where he belongs.

Later, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) will arrive to patch things up with Adam, so they’ll both hate that they fought.

Adam will just want Sally to trust that he has a plan to handle Victor, so she’ll insist she can do that.

At the same time, Sally won’t be willing to keep her mouth shut whenever she has concerns, so Adam will understand.

Sally will also hand over a New Year’s Eve sign as a gift, so they’ll laugh over their first New Year’s Eve together in that office.

When Nikki shows up, she’ll find Adam kissing Sally and will express her annoyance. Sally will make herself scarce, so that’ll give Nikki a chance to grill Adam about his return to the Newman Media throne.

Adam will point out that he didn’t lobby for this Newman Media comeback, but Victor was insistent.

After Adam pretends he’s in the dark on Victor’s plans, Nikki will insist she’ll expect Adam to “graciously get the hell out” of her office when the time comes.

However, Adam will note that he’s uneasy since Victor isn’t offering details on his next job following this temporary gig.

When Adam says that might make him reluctant to cede control, Nikki will ask if there’s a threat in there somewhere.

Adam will claim it’s a suggestion that Nikki should get Victor to elaborate on his future.

Nikki will wonder if Adam intends to fight her for Newman Media, but he’ll counter that he’d like to work together for their mutual benefit.

The more Nikki helps Adam now, the less likely there’ll be conflict between them down the road – at least according to Adam!
