The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, May 16, reveals that Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) will run into Abby Newman-Abbott (Melissa Ordway) and assume she had his back at the recent board meeting, but she’ll admit she voted to let the lawsuit go to court.
That news will rile Daniel up and lead to him taking some jabs about Devon Hamilton-Winters (Bryton James) handing Abby that seat on the board.
Daniel will make it seem like Devon just wanted to add someone who’d vote his way.
At Chancellor-Winters, Lily Winters (Christel Khail) will strategize with Devon and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) before a confused Abby is summoned for an emergency meeting.
Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) will get on a video call and complain about this happening behind Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) back while he’s traveling.
However, Devon and Lily will stand their ground on getting this cleared up right now.
Since Lily and Devon signed an agreement with Jill and not Billy, Devon will make a motion to clearly define Billy’s power within the company.
“He does not get veto power or unilateral decisions. And we expect all decisions and ideas to pass through Lily and myself first. And if it’s a no from us, it’s a no across the board,” Devon will insist.
Jill will fly into a rage, but she’ll assume voting on this is pointless.
After Jill predicts Abby will side with Devon and Lily, Abby will pipe up that she’s siding with Jill and Billy instead.
After Jill thanks Abby and hangs up, Abby will blast Devon for taking her vote for granted and not even giving her a heads-up.
Once Abby insists she voted how she thought was right, she’ll complain about Devon putting her in the position of choosing between people she loves.
Devon will apologize for not taking the time to talk to Abby about all this before the meeting, so Abby will appreciate that.
Nevertheless, Abby will defend her legitimate reasons for voting the way she did.
In Abby’s opinion, putting handcuffs on Billy would only create more tension and denying Jill’s autonomy would be a fire-starter.
Lily will think the silver lining of the motion not passing is that weakening Billy’s power might’ve made him more dangerous.
Later, Abby will talk to Lily about her run-in with Daniel and how upset he was to learn she voted against settling the lawsuit.
Lily won’t be pleased about Abby spilling confidential information, but she’ll admit she’s considering a compromise thanks to Daniel’s latest visit.
Meanwhile, Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) will be furious when she finds out Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) wants to postpone their trip again.
Tucker will argue that he has a chance to fix things with Devon, but he’ll feel like there’s a sense of urgency here.
Audra will think it’s just another case of her being a runner-up in Tucker’s life. After Audra makes it clear that she’s done coming in second, she’ll hint about taking the Paris trip alone and storm out.
At Society, Audra will order a whiskey neat and give Sally Spectra updates on Tucker’s latest trip postponement.
Sally will actually see Tucker’s side this time and get why he’d want to repair his damaged relationship with Devon if possible.
Nevertheless, fed-up Audra will suggest she might visit Paris to turn the Glissade board of directors against Tucker and convince them to appoint her as his replacement.
As Nate appears nearby, Audra will declare that Tucker thinks he has all the power in this relationship, but she’ll refuse to live with that.
After eavesdropping, Nate will speak with Audra alone and push her to have dinner with him in Genoa City instead of flying off to Paris alone.
At Crimson Lights, Daniel will basically mock Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) over her recent love triangle drama when he’s got much bigger problems on his mind.
Daniel will feel like everyone’s turning against him and will mention Abby’s betrayal, but Phyllis won’t be surprised since she’s both an Abbott and a Newman.
As for Lily, Phyllis will feel like she’s going to come around.
Next on Thursday’s Y&R episode, Tucker will sit down with Phyllis and admit he could use a parent-to-parent bonding moment, but she’ll act like he’s come to the wrong place.
When talk turns to Daniel, Phyllis will make a prediction about Billy convincing the powers that be at Chancellor-Winters to rehire him.
Since Jill transferred all of her corporate power to Billy, Phyllis will add that Devon and Lily don’t get to do what they please anymore.
Tucker will also learn that Billy’s out of town, so he’ll approach Devon and act like it’s the perfect time to strike.
Devon will spot Phyllis nearby, so he’ll confront Phyllis about violating her confidentiality clause by spilling Billy details to Tucker.
Once Phyllis goes on a rant about Devon’s treatment of Daniel, she’ll quit and save Devon the trouble of firing her.
Devon will accept Phyllis’ resignation and thank her for making his job a lot easier.
