The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 14, reveals that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will bicker with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) at Society before offering his blessing on the use of the Abbott name. Jack won’t want to fight with another family member, so he’ll surrender when it comes to his stance on Abbott-Chancellor.
Once Jack updates Billy on Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) rebellious phase, Billy will suggest Kyle needs to fail if he’s going to have a reality check.
Jack will agree a downfall is necessary, but he’ll worry it might be something Kyle can’t come back from.
At the GCAC, Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) will vent to Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) about all the custody drama, but he’ll think maybe Kyle genuinely wants a compromise since he offered to keep their current custody arrangement.
Summer will still have concerns about Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), but Chance will give her a nudge to consider what’s best for Harrison Abbott (Reddig Munsell) and try to co-parent amicably.
Chance will also warn that there’s no guarantee Summer will win if she goes to court and will ask if it’s worth the risk.
Summer will ultimately agree to give everything Chance has told her some thought.
While Harrison is playing nearby in the park, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will ask Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) about Harrison’s schedule when he goes back to school.
Claire will suspect that Victoria would prefer if she went back to work at the Newman empire.
Victoria will assure Claire that she wants her happiness and will suggest there’ll always be a spot for her at Newman down the road.
As for whether Claire’s given any more thought to changing her last name, Claire will admit she’d like to be a Newman and thrill Victoria.
Afterward, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will hear the news about Claire officially becoming a Newman, so they’ll be delighted as well.
Once Summer runs into her cousin in the park later, she’ll grill Claire about Kyle’s partnership with Audra and insist she deserves to know if something isn’t right about it.
At the Abbott mansion, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) will bring Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins) home from Los Angeles with her, but there’ll soon be clues that he’s not the real Alan at all.
“Alan” will marvel over the Abbott house like he’s never been there before, but he’ll claim he just never fully appreciated it.
Over lunch with Billy, Jack and Diane Jenkins-Abbott (Susan Walters), there’ll be talk about how smitten “Alan” is as he gushes over Traci and plans to move to Genoa City for her.
Billy will suggest it looks like this romance is the real thing – and Traci will confirm that it does feel real.
Of course, Y&R could be offering up some huge hints about Traci and Alan’s love story being fake!
If Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins) survived instead of Alan and has been duping Traci into falling for him, then he’s setting her up for some terrible heartbreak.
