Tom Selleck Holds Out Hope CBS Will Reverse Its Cancellation Decision For “Blue Bloods”

CBS recently dropped the final hammer for Blue Bloods fans, confirming the show’s cancellation by announcing when the last batch of episodes will air in 2024 for its final Season 14.

Despite this, Tom Selleck is apparently still holding out hope that the network will reverse its decision. The actor has played Francis Xavier “Frank” Reagan since the series debuted in 2010, and during a recent interview, he wasn’t at all shy in sharing his opinion that the show should not be cancelled.

Tom Selleck Is Hoping “Blue Bloods” Gets The “S.W.A.T.” Treatment

During an interview with CBS news, Selleck reveals his hopes that Blue Bloods will get the ‘reverse cancellation’ treatment that S.W.A.T. has received, two years in a row now.

He tells CBS News that, “I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses. We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding down a cliff. We’re doing good shows and still holding our place. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”

Could CBS Reverse Its Cancellation Decision On “Blue Bloods”

While Blue Bloods fans have started petitions to save the series, and Donnie Wahlberg has admitted to hearing “rumblings” about the drama continuing, during a press conference, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach stated, “All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule. We are going to end the show come December.”

While the show has been on the air for 14 years, fans have remained very invested in Blue Bloods, and the drama has always had solid ratings. In fact, for the 2023-2024 season it hit the number six spot for top broadcasted series.

The final episodes for Blue Bloods, Season 14, Part 1 are currently airing on Fridays at 10 p.m. (ET) on CBS. It has been reported that Season 14, Part 2 shows will start airing in October 2024, with the series finale happening sometime in December of this year.
