According to Deadline, two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank is set to join the cast of Yellowjackets for Season 3. The actress will become a recurring guest star in the new season of the Paramount+/Showtime series.
It’s being reported that while her status is recurring at the moment, should Yellowjackets get picked up for Season 4, she could be upped to a series regular.
Yellowjackets Season 3: Hilary Swank’s Character
As of this writing, the details regarding Swank’s character are remaining hush-hush. Still, it has been reported that she’ll be introduced later this season.
Considering the show’s storyline, there’s potential for Swank to play an adult version of a teen on the soccer team, who’s character hasn’t been introduced yet.
Yellowjackets premiered in 2021, and it spotlights a girls’ high school soccer team who survives a 1996 plane crash, which has landed in the remote wilderness.
The show follows the team’s descent from a thriving, yet complicated soccer team, while also profiling their adult lives in the aftermath of the crash, with flashbacks from their past life to present time.
If Swank ends up being an adult version of a high schooler character, then she’ll join the ranks of the other actresses – Lauren Ambrose, Tawny Cypress, Simone Kessell, Juliette Lewis, and Christina Ricci – who are in the same boat.
The cast who plays their characters’ “teenage” counterparts includes Jasmin Savoy Brown, Courtney Eaton, Samantha Hanratty, Liv Hewson, Sophie Nelisse, and Sophie Thatcher.
Yellowjackets Season 3: When Is The Show Returning?
Fans have been long anticipating the release of Yellowjackets, Season 3. Like most television shows, there were delays this year due to all the strikes in 2023. While filming for the show is currently happening in Vancouver, the Season 3 premiered is set scheduled on Showtime for some time in 2025.
In addition to Swank, actor Joel McHale will also be seen on Yellowjackets in a guest-starring role come Season 3. His character is unknown at this time, as well.
