In tonight’s Chicago Fire episode, remember Flaco? Flaco was a criminal. He was a very dangerous criminal. He died in a fire because Cruz came across him and he chose to let him die.

He had the opportunity to carry him out there, but he chose to close the door on him. Flaco died in that fire. His cousin was now making a nuisance of himself. The cousin wants Cruz’s help in breaking the law. He claimed Cruz owed him that for letting Flaco die. He even threatened Cruz’s family if he didn’t help and so Cruz told him that he couldn’t prove anything about him and Flaco.

It doesn’t matter what a criminal has to say. He has no evidence. Cruz was a decorated firefighter. He also wasn’t afraid to go the cops himself if that man continued to stalk him or his family.

Cruz wasn’t scared of Junior. Though maybe he should have been. Cruz forgot all about his conversation when the firehouse came together to celebrate Mouch and Herrmann. Both men passed their tests. Mouch passed his lieutenant’s exam. Herrmann passed his captain exam. They proved it was never too late to move up through the ranks.

The whole firehouse was celebrating with them when they got the call. There was a fire at an apartment building. Mouch saw the light on in one apartment and the latch was still on. He had to break down the door to reach the guy that lived there. Only there was no need. The man that lived there was dead.

He’s been dead for days without anyone noticing. Mouch felt bad for the man. He thought it sad that someone could die and have no one care. He eventually got the victim’s name. It was George Thomspon. And Mouch took it upon himself to go looking for the victim’s family.

Mouch had time to pursue things.

Cruz on the other hand was facing an investigation. His problem refused to go away. Junior went to OFI. He asked to reopen the case involving his cousin Flaco and now he has Cruz worrying.

Cruz talked about the new investigation with Severide. Severide didn’t think much of it. He said people usually come back around if they thought they could get a payday from the city.

Severide considered this cold case to be a dud and he told Cruz it’d go away soon enough. He didn’t know that this person kept calling Cruz. He kept asking to meet with Cruz.

Cruz couldn’t escape him. The only silver lining was that Severide wasn’t around to notice the sudden change in Cruz. Severide’s wife was out of town thanks to the Girls On Fire program.

He was on his lonesome when he heard that OFI needed someone to teach a class and he agreed to do it. He figured the firehouse was fine without him for a few days. With Severide gone, it was just Capp and Tony that suspected something was up. They tried talking to Cruz and he refused to tell them anything.

Cruz met up with Junior again. Junior finally told him what he wanted. Junior was fresh out of prison and his stash got stolen while he away. He now knows who robbed him.

He wanted to get the money back. He wants Cruz’s help because they were going to be dressed up as firefighters when they steal the hundred thousand back. Cruz now has to decide what to do. He could help this man rob another drug dealer or he could go to the cops and risk an investigation into Flaco’s death. He knew he wouldn’t win no matter what he chose.

It wasn’t until he found himself about to steal a spare firefighter’s gear that he saw the truth. He saw that things have gone too far. Funnily enough, it was Chief Pascal that came to suspect he was up to something.

It was just the way that Cruz sped away from the firehouse that irked him. Cruz was off when Mouch finally realized that his victim didn’t have a family. He had no loved ones. He didn’t have anyone to care that he died and Mouch had to make peace with that. He also had to make peace with the massive party at Molly’s.

Violet was throwing a party at the bar to celebrate Herrmann and Mouch’s test scores. Herrmann was worried about property damage if the party got out of control. Mouch was still depressed about his victim. E

ither way, they weren’t around when Cruz told Junior that he wouldn’t go through with it. Cruz went back on his stance that he was fine with an investigation only Junior pulled out a gun. He forced Cruz to help him. They forced their way into the building. Junior looked for the cash. It turns out his friend who told him about it had been lying.

There was no cash. The guy in charge was also there. He recognized Junior. Cruz ended up in a gunfight. Junior was killed. Cruz was on his own and he was about to die when he managed to escape.

Unfortunately, his prints were still at the scene along with his blood. He got shot in the arm. He was now in more trouble than he was before. Cruz was so lost after that shooting that he just cried in his car afterwards.

Everyone else at the firehouse was at Molly’s.

THE END!
