In tonight’s Chicago Med episode, it was a miracle! Lieutenant Kidd of the Chicago Fire Department survived the debris. She was now trapped on the train underground. She had Detective Ruzek with her. They were also surrounded by scared civilians and some were injured.
There was no telling on when help was going to arrive. Their radios weren’t working down there. They didn’t have cell reception. They were essentially cut off from the real world and what was happening above ground. Mouch left the scene. He did it to get his wife the necessary help she needed. She was shot multiple times in the line of duty.
Trudy was rushed to the hospital. She was losing so much blood that surgery wasn’t possible. Only Dr. Ripley had an idea. He believed they should bring down Trudy’s body temperature. It wouldn’t kill her. It wouldn’t heal her. It would just stabilize her long enough to survive surgery.
Ripley’s plan had merit and so Dr. Lennox agreed to it. They were doing their best to bring down Trudy’s temperature when Ruzek finally got in touch with Burgess. He informed her he was alright. He reassured Severide that Kidd was alright as well.
They were trapped on the train. They needed to know help was coming. It was, but it was going to take longer than anyone liked. There was a lot of debris.
They would have to dig through hundred of yards of debris and the passengers on the train could run out of air by then. The specialist even said that it could take weeks to reach those people. He was then asked how long the passengers can survive down there? He didn’t have an answer for that either. Severide was prepared to kill the man when Captain Pascal stepped in.
Pascal came up with a game plan. It could help them reach the passengers much sooner than the safest option. It was still taking a risk with Severide’s wife and she could still die. The same for Trudy. Mouch did some research on what the doctors did. He found out it was still experimental.
It’s been used on animals and only one adult. Mouch felt like his wife deserved better than that. Especially when he heard that they had to stop his wife’s heart by bringing down her temperature. He was ready to fight Ripley and his wife’s condition was still unknown.
There was also a mystery woman that came in with severe burns. The burns covered over ninety percent of this woman’s body. She was unrecognizable.
She mentioned a partner when she was still conscious and there was a mystery man lurking around her room. Only this man denied knowing the woman when the nurses asked him. Dr. Asher thought that was odd. She went looking for the clothes this burned woman was wearing and it was a match for what the bad guys wore when they broke into the building.
This mystery woman was one of the bad guys. She was probably the one that set off the explosion. She was far too close to it and that’s how she got burned. The man that watched her at the hospital was probably a boyfriend if not husband. He couldn’t risk the cops finding out her name.
Or his name. He ran off when he saw all the cops. The cops were talking to everybody. They wanted to know if they’ve seen anyone suspicious and so that man running off like he did had jumped to the top of the list. And Asher proving the woman played a part was helpful.
They tried to get the woman’s fingerprints. It was too badly burnt to get anything good. They still looked for three people wearing masks and they found out they got into the building using undocumented tunnels.
Al Capone’s tunnels. He built several tunnels to move his booze. Somehow the thieves were able to connect a tunnel into the server room holding the pensions. The firefighters just needed to find the path they took. They were also running out of time. There was more debris falling and the train wasn’t losing space.
They were also trapped with one of their terrorists. Ruzek didn’t just go into the subway tunnel. He was pursuing one of the gunmen and they both got on the train. Ruzek failed to mention that to Kidd at first. It wasn’t until she noticed his odd behavior that he admitted there was a gunman. Then more debris fell on the train.
They lost what little signal they had to the outside world. They had to use morse code to reach everyone on the train. They were also still figuring out which path the terrorists took.
Time was running out. The cops asked to speak with the burned woman and they ran into a wall. The wall was Dr. Lennox. Dr. Lennox refused to wake up her patient. She didn’t care if she was a killer or a thief. She just cared about the survival of her patient. Meaning she wasn’t going to turn off the woman’s paid meds just so she could be interrogated by the cops.
Voight hadn’t liked. Neither did Burgess. They accused her of having blood on her hands. They forced Lennox to decide what she could live with and she still tried to help the cops. She just didn’t let them hurt her patient to do it.
Dr. Frost also met a young girl. Her name is Ali. She said her mom’s cell phone showed she was downtown when the explosion occurred. She couldn’t reach her mom.
They just moved and they didn’t know their neighbors well. Ali didn’t have any family. She just had her mom. Her mom was Margaret Simshaw. She was the burned woman. The cops tried to talk to Ali when they made that connection, but Ali was refusing to help them if she doesn’t get to see her mom. And Dr. Charles was worried about traumatizing her.
